Apart from the web clip, that was released on the App, by CW as evidence that Laurel Lance, played by Katie Cassidy is not dead before the mid-season break, which was episode 9 of Arrow Season 5. Wendy Mericle, who is the executive producer of the show confirms that Laurel Lance is alive.
Spoilers, the Episode 10 of Arrow Season 5, might also include another character. Wendy Mericle in an interview with TV Guide stated about the return of Katie Cassidy after the mid-season break of the show, on its 10th episode. The episode is going to air on the 25th of January 2017.
Wendy Mericle Approves
Wendy Mericle remarked on Katie Cassidy’s willingness to reappear on the show after her character was killed in the previous season. She also said how the whole team of Arrow is thrilled at the prospect of working with her again.
She also hinted that there is a way of reviving Laurel Lance on Arrow Season 5, Episode 10 and that it will have to be something related to Flashpoint.
If you remember Arrow Season 4, Damien Darhk, played by Neal McDonough stabbed Laurel Lance. Later on, in the show, we saw her flat-lining in the hospital. This caused fans to wonder if it was Laurel Lance they saw in there or was it her doppelganger.
Erroneous Hit by Oliver King
In the same episode, we saw Oliver King played by Stephen Amell, chase and hit a man with arrows whom he believed to be Prometheus. Prometheus is his new enemy. However, after removing his mask, Oliver was shocked to see that he had killed Detective Billy Malone instead.
The character of Detective Billy Malone was played by guest star Tyler Ritter, and the detective was the former fiancée of Felicity, played by Carly Pope.
After the Arrow Season 5 midseason finale left Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) mourning for her boyfriend, Billy, who was killed by her ex-lover, Oliver Queen. The burning question in all of our minds is that will she be plotting against Oliver when the TV show returns in January.
However, when Oliver told Felicity about him accidentally killing her boyfriend, she was reasonable enough to look at it as Prometheus’s doing. She did not blame Oliver for a moment, about the death of her fiancée.
Felicity was smart enough to realize that Prometheus was behind the staging of the whole incident. He dressed Billy up in his dark costume while, duct taping his mouth and put a weapon in his hands.
The fans could not blame Felicity, however, if she chose to go to the dark side and starts plotting against Oliver Queen’s downfall from this incident onwards. It was Oliver’s arrow at the end of the day that killed Billy, but none of that is going to happen.
Interestingly, though, from the next installment of Arrow, Felicity is going to undertake a darker journey.That too without, pinning the blame for Billy’s murder on Oliver, the showrunner of Arrow, Wendy Mericle reassured the audience in her interview with TV Line.
Felicity is grieving both for Billy, and her heart is also broken for Oliver. In the winter season ending the episode, What We Leave Behind, we also saw Oliver shattered over Billy’s death. He starts to see reason in Prometheus’s words that whoever comes in contact with Oliver dies, and so Queen is guilt ridden.
One thing Felicity is not going to do, for sure Wendy stated, is blame Oliver Queen. She identifies the influences that have led to this situation. Felicity’s heart is shattered in that last moment for Oliver, for Billy Malone and herself.
