‘The Elder Scrolls 6’ Development Expected to be Delayed Further with Bethesda’s Decision to Work on the Improvement of ‘Skyrim Special Edition’

A few months ago, Bethesda Studios has confirmed that the role-playing game “The Elder Scrolls 6” is one of the three major titles up on its game development plate following the completion of the DLCs for the post-apocalyptic role-playing game “Fallout 4” which it released in November last year.

The two other major titles on Bethesda’s priority development calendar are “The Evil Within” and “Rage.”

However, as of late, there are now reports going around saying that the development of “The Elder Scrolls 6” has been further pushed back as Bethesda focuses on some other new things including “Fallout 4 VR,” a possible “Fallout 5,” and the continuous improvement on the “Skyrim Special Edition.”

Of the three new things, only “Fallout 5” seems far-fetched since Bethesda would be foolish to focus on the fifth iteration of the franchise this early when it has yet to develop the next iterations of its other major titles.

The “Fallout 4” VR edition has been reported to be in the works since last month and it seems likely that Bethesda would like to capitalize on the technology and apply it to its current hit game.

The “Skyrim Special Edition” is actually the remastered version of “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim” and it was already released in October to warm reception among gamers.

It is possible that Bethesda sees the short-term potentials of “Skyrim Special Edition” and “Fallout 4 VR” that it has decided to work on it first prior to the major titles.

However, the redirection of focus should have an impact on the development timeline of the three other major titles, particularly on “The Elder Scrolls 6” which is scheduled last in the order of priority, details Game & Guide.

Thus, there are now speculations saying that the earliest that the game could come out in the gaming consoles and the PC is in 2019.

Recreating ‘The Elder Scrolls 4’ via mods

With the added support for modding in the PlayStation 4 for games like “Skyrim Special Edition,” fans of the franchise have been working heavily in creating a mod to remaster the older “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.”

The fourth iteration of the video game franchise is also a fan-favorite installment that is why a good number of Skyrim modders are planning to recreate the fourth installment of the game via a mod for “Skyrim Special Edition.”

Reports have it that the project shall include all of the DLCs that were previously made available by Bethesda for the “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.”

In fact, some gamers and modders have already released a trailer which they called as “Skyblivion” that brings the fans up to speed as to where they are already in the development cycle, reports the University Herald.

A whisked-together rumor

Because nothing has yet been confirmed about “The Elder Scrolls 6,” it is still considered a figment made largely of whisked-together rumors and internet conjecture.

The game does not officially exist yet pending the confirmation from Bethesda Studios. The rumors, however, are optimistic that there would be a “The Elder Scrolls 6” since “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim” has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide when it was released to the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360, and the PC in 2011.

There was a four-year gap between the releases of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” and “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim,” but if that was going to happen again, “The Elder Scrolls 6” should have been released in 2015 already.

But Bethesda apparently has not started working on the game as of this time, which means that the 2019 supposed release date of “The Elder Scrolls 6” is merely an optimistic projection.

Whatever hopes or notions that gamers are still entertaining regarding the release date of “The Elder Scrolls 6” in the near future have been shattered no less by its game developer, Bethesda Studios.
