Critically-acclaimed author George R.R. Martin has recently spoken about an update to “The Winds of Winter,” the sixth book of his fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire.”
But instead of saying something about the book’s release date, which would have sent the millions of anticipating fans to screaming delight, Martin disclosed that the upcoming book would have darker chapters compared to the previous five books of the fantasy novel series, notes the iTech Post.
However, there is a caveat to the dark chapters in “The Winds of Winter,” according to Martin. Apparently, the fantasy novel series shall nonetheless have a fairy tale ending, which is possibly the reason why the sixth book is not being released just yet.
It seems that prematurely releasing “The Winds of Winter” to bookshelves would ultimately spoil the last two seasons of “Game of Thrones” so the consensus of the speculations now are saying that the book could be released after the eighth and final season of the HBO hit series.
Not yet finished
While it was not Martin who admitted it, there are reports saying that the author is not yet through writing “The Winds of Winter.”
Discerning critics believe otherwise. They also think that Martin is now working on the seventh book of the fantasy novel series entitled “A Dream of Spring.”
There were reports saying that the story of “The Winds of Winter” is unusual but beautiful as well. Critics believe that nobody could say that a book is beautiful unless it is already complete.
But as a matter of giving a thoughtful preview to “The Winds of Winter,” Martin was quoted as saying in a recent interview that the book will feature Winter which is the time when things die, and cold and ice and darkness fill the world.
He added that it is not going to be happy and feel good novel that people may be hoping for. He said that some of the characters in the book are going to be in dark places.
Martin, however, added that the classic story structure of “The Winds of Winter” follows the adage ‘Things get worse before they get better’ which means that a beautiful ending could still be waiting in the end, details News Everyday.
No simultaneous release
Incidentally, George Martin also dismissed the absurd rumors saying that “The Winds of Winter” and “A Dream of Spring” would be simultaneously released after the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones.”
There are rumors claiming that the final ending to Martin’s hit saga is rumored to provide some light relief after the dark events of “The Winds of Winter.”
The author somehow confirmed it indirectly when he said in an interview that he is not going to tell how he is going to end the fantasy novel series but he said that the overall flavor is going to be as much bittersweet as it is happy.
Incidentally, George Martin made his last public appearance for the year in Guadalajara, Mexico when he attended the International Book Fair held from November 26 to December 4.
In his blog, Martin said that the Guadalajara International Book Fair is his last scheduled event in 2016. He added that his public appearance schedule for 2017 is very limited because he will be focusing on completing “The Winds of Winter.”
Before the event, he also told his fans that if they want to meet him and get a book signed, the Guadalajara International Book Fair is the place to be because they would no longer get to see more of him next year.
Fans have been waiting since late last year for the release date of “The Winds of Winter,” the sixth book in Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novel series. But it seems that it has been so long because of the agonizingly slow writing pace of the author.
