The days of dribbling too much will soon be over for gamers of the basketball simulation video game “NBA 2K17” as Patch 1.07 was released this week, first on the PlayStation 4.
It is expected that the version of the Patch 1.07 on the PlayStation 3, the Xbox One, the Xbox 360 and the PC will also go live shortly.
The patch is quite hefty as it weighs 7.523GB, which is almost the same as Patch 1.06 released on November 23. Among the major revision that it is bringing to the game is that over-dribbling prior to making shots will see a noticeable drop in field goal percentages, notes iDigital Times.
Gameplay designer Mike Wang explained that there will also be a server-side turning update that nerfs the effectiveness of contested three-point shots.
This means that if a gamer challenges a three-point shooter, there is a good chance that it would miss the basket more than an unchallenged shot from the rainbow territory.
Other things that the update bring
The official patch notes for the latest update to “NBA 2K17” also indicated that it brings support for the NBA 2K17 European All-Star Tournament and the forthcoming NBA 2K17 All-Star Tournament.
Patch 1.07 also brings performance increase for gamers playing in the Old Town, Sunset Beach, and Ante-Up parks.
In addition, it shall likewise reduce the effectiveness of shooting after excessive dribbling as a way to achieve better game balance.
It also speeds up the game just like in real-time NBA and lives up to the basketball adage that dribbling does not win games but it’s making the most baskets.
Soccer players playing ‘NBA 2K17’
Meanwhile, two stars of the Arsenal FC soccer team in UEFA Champions League, namely Carl Jenkinson and Hector Bellerin, recently face off in the celebrity “NBA 2K17” tournament, reports the Daily Star of UK.
The two right-backs competed against each other in the second round of the celebrity “NBA 2K17” tournament which turned out to be a closely-fought affair.
Jenkinson, playing as the 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers, took the lead early on in the encounter. Soon the former West Ham loanee extended his advantage to seven points with just 45 seconds left on the clock.
But Bellerin’s Oklahoma City Thunder, led by all-star point guard Russell Westbrook, clawed their way back into the match to cut the deficit down the stretch.
The Spaniard had a chance to win it with a buzzer-beating three-pointer but his shot bounced off the iron to give Jenkinson the victory.
Jenkinson’s victory means that he will advance into the latter stages of the tournament to face Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland.
Late last month, game publisher 2K Sports officially released a patch for the basketball simulation video game “NBA 2K17.”
It was officially called as Patch 1.06 and it basically fixed all minor and major issues encountered in the game by players including the popping up of pass-icons in the PlayStation 4 Pro.
In addition to the sudden turning up of the pass-icons, PS4 Pro players were also witnessing problems in the dribbling animation on “NBA 2K17,’ which involves a wrong dribble move that happens when the player is trying to do a double crossover. Patch 1.06 has already fixed such issue.
Patch 1.06 also included improvements on CPU intelligence which meant that offense and fastbreaks are faster than before.
The update also corrected the problems on MyGM, MyLeague, and MyPark modes and also made some minor adjustments and bug fixes too.
Incidentally, Patch 1.06 weighed 7.4GB of memory space on the PS4 and only 2.6GB on the Xbox One. It was a minuscule 139.5MB update on the PC.
The update consisted of changes and improvements in general, gameplay, and other aspects.
