Production for Season 3 of the American crime drama TV series “Narcos” on Netflix is now ongoing following the completion of casting a few weeks ago.
The upcoming third season of “Narcos” would be like a reboot of the TV series since it shall no longer feature Pablo Escobar, played by Brazilian actor Wagner Moura during the first two seasons of the show.
It can be recalled that Season 2 of “Narcos” showed how the DEA and the Colombian authorities cornered Pablo Escobar in Medellin and shot him dead on the roof as he was about to escape from his pursuers.
However, there is now a revelation by the real-life son of the former Colombian drug kingpin that his father was not actually shot by the police but killed himself.
Did Pablo Escobar shot himself?
Sebastian Marroquin, whose previous name was Juan Pablo Escobar, said that he is certain that his father killed himself, contrary to what was shown and depicted in “Narcos” Season 2, notes News Everyday.
Marroquin claimed that he is absolutely certain that his father killed himself. He made the statement during the launch of his new book entitled “Pablo Escobar: In Fraganti” which means “Pablo Escobar: Red-Handed” when translated into English. He recalled that he even talked to his father 10 minutes before the latter shot himself in order to protect his family from being taken by the authorities.
Escobar’s son also hit the producers of “Narcos” for the 28 inaccuracies that it featured in the TV series despite being given access to Escobar’s family photos and videos.
Supporting Marroquin’s claim that Pablo Escobar shot himself and not by pursuing authorities, the autopsy report showed the drug kingpin having three bullet wounds on his body including one near the temple.
His new book is actually the second he wrote about his father in a little over a year. Just before the TV series premiered on Netflix in September last year, Marroquin also published “Pablo Escobar: My Father” in English version.
Back then he said that he is not worried about his father’s reputation as a drug kingpin but on the image of the narcotics dealers being projected as cool by the TV series.
No effect on the TV series
Critics, however, believe that the latest revelation from Marroquin shall not have an impact in the plotlines of the upcoming third season of “Narcos” since Pablo Escobar shall no longer be featured because the drug kingpin is already dead.
It would be foolish for the TV series to dwell on the possibility that Escobar may have shot himself instead of the authorities pinning him down and killing himself in the process. It would be way off-topic already since Season 3 of “Narcos” shall focus on the emergence of the Cali Cartel after the death of Pablo Escobar.
Executive producer Eric Newman assured fans that there is going to be life in “Narcos” even after the death of Pablo Escobar.
The TV series has already been renewed by Netflix for two more seasons, officially debunking cancellation rumors for the TV series as a result of the supposed fan backlash for the death of Escobar.
A few weeks before the start of filming for Season 3, the production team has been announcing the cast of characters for “Narcos” and the latest actors to have joined the series for its third season are Nicholas Gonzalez and Andrea Londo.
Nicholas Gonzales is best known for his portrayal of Rosewood Detective Marco Furey in “Pretty Little Liars” and also as the brother of Cisco Ramon in “The Flash.”
He will reportedly be joining “Narcos” Season 3 as an experienced American DEA agent named Lopez.
Meanwhile, Andrea Londo shall be taking on the role of Maria, a former Colombian beauty queen who is smart and knows how to survive, details Game & Guide.
Incidentally, in order to quench the fans of the excitement of “Narcos” Season 3 even without Pablo Escobar, Eric Newman said that the upcoming season shall feature the Cali Cartel who shall be highlighted by its four godfathers.
