It has been previously reported that the fighting game “Tekken 7” from Japanese game developer Bandai Namco might hit the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC in the middle of next year.
“Tekken 7” has been released in Japanese gaming arcades in March 2015 so assuming that the mid-next year release to the PC and the gaming platforms are true, then it would have taken the developer nearly two years to port the game from the arcade to the current gaming consoles and the PC.
Game creator and designer Katsuhiro Harada revealed that “Tekken 7” will, at last, be ported to the PC using the new Unreal Engine 4, which accelerated the advancement time of the diversion of the arcade game, notes Game & Guide.
He explained that the Unreal Engine 4 has permitted the development team to begin building up the game on the PC, as opposed to porting it to the consoles subsequently.
This means that the game should come first to PC before they port it to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
He, however, said that there are no immediate plans at the moment to port the game to the latest variants of the current generation gaming consoles, specifically the PlayStation 4 Pro and the Xbox Scorpio.
Harada explained that those gaming platforms are genuinely new to them and that it would be difficult for them to give a distinct reply on whether “Tekken 7” will be ported to those gaming consoles in the future or not.
The advantage of ‘Tekken 7’
When asked what would be the difference of “Tekken 7” from the other fighting games now in the video game retail markets, Harada said that the upcoming game is 3D while most of its competition is 2D.
Harada explained that a lot of other 2D fighting game are using 3D game models and graphics, but to actually have 3D coordinators and be able to move into the background and foreground in a way that changes the gameplay is something that sets “Tekken 7” and the franchise per se from other games.
He pointed out that there were more 3D fighters in the field many years back but “Tekken” has been the only major one that remains to this day, indicative of the durability and dynamism of the game.
When asked if Bandai Namco has considered incorporating PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio support for “Tekken 7,” Harada said that the gaming platforms are relatively new so it is unlikely that they would have the support considering that the game is about to hit the gaming consoles and the PC in a matter of months.
Becoming aggressive in eSports
Harada also mentioned of the aggressive contribution of “Tekken 7” in the eSports business scene. He expressed that they are now ready to hold competition arrangement with the present arcade sheets that they have.
He noticed that as the eSports business is consistently developing, the arrival of the game on the gaming consoles and the PC in the middle of next year may likewise enable the players to give additional time with the game.
Incidentally, the spin-off variant of “Tekken 7,” entitled “Tekken 7: Fated Retribution” has been continuously adding fan favorites prior to its launch.
Harada stepped up after the King of Iron Fist Tournament NA Finals recently to confirm that there are more characters to come before the game launches.
The participants competed to the currently unreleased “Tekken 7” for cash prizes in San Francisco, California during the tournament.
Even though the roster in “Tekken 7: Fated Retribution” is quite large as it is currently, there are still a few fan favorites missing, notes Event Hubs.
During the Golden Joystick Awards live stream held on November 17, a new half-story and half-brutal violence-boasting “Tekken 7” trailer has been released.
