‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ Rumors of Captain Jack Sparrow Being Relegated to a Supporting Role Not True at All

Contrary to rumors that the role of Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, in the upcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” the fifth movie in the franchise, the eccentric pirate captain will still be the front and center of the film.

Recent reports were saying that Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner, the role played by Orlando Bloom, were relegated to supporting roles as the “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will reportedly focus on Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites.

However, the rumors are not true since everyone knows that Captain Jack Sparrow is the face of the pirate movie franchise.

And just like the love story between Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, previously played by Keira Knightley, during the first three films of the movie series, the love story of Kaya Scodelario, who shall take on the role of Carina Smyth, and Brenton Thwaites, who shall play the role of Henry Turner, in the fifth movie is just a subplot of “Pirates of the Caribbean 5.”

In fact, in some European countries, the movie was retitled as “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Revenge of Salazar” which means that the focus of the film is the quest of Captain Salazar, played by Javier Bardem, to take his revenge against Captain Jack Sparrow for allegedly being responsible for the death of his brother.

What seems true in a way is the rather limited exposure of Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner in the upcoming movie.

Since he no longer has a partner in Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner will just be appearing as sort of cameo and only to validate that he is the father of Henry, notes Jobs & Hire.

It could be recalled that Orlando Bloom and his character also skipped the fourth movie of the franchise, entitled “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” when it was released to theaters in 2011.

When “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” hits theaters in May next year, it will be about six years from the time that the fourth movie of the franchise came out to cinemas.

Going separate ways

It is not only Johnny Depp who is single just before “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” hits the theaters on May 26 next year.

Apparently, he will be joined by fellow franchise actor Orlando Bloom, who just recently broke up with pop singer Katy Perry.

Latest reports have it that the “Roar” singer and the actor have called it quits after 10 months of dating. It could be recalled that the couple went public back in February when they were spotted spending time together at a resort in Maui, details Headlines & Global News.

While it is not yet confirmed on who decided to initiate the split, the rumors are saying that it is the actor who pulled the trigger because he is apparently not yet ready to get married and have babies.

But there are also speculations saying that it was Katy Perry who decided to end the relationship because she does not see that she and Orlando are on the same page in their relationship.

Just recently, Katy admitted in an interview that she finds it very difficult to drive to Orlando’s home whenever she wants to see him.

Orlando lives in Malibu and according to Katy, the distance is too much for her to drive. She feels like if one lives that far, people won’t be coming to visit them.

Not meant for European audience

Apparently, the phrase ‘dead men tell no tales’ does not cut out for some Europeans that the official title of the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie has reportedly been changed.

In three other European countries, particularly in France, Italy, and Spain, the movie shall come out with an official title of “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Revenge of Salazar.”

Regardless of the different titles, what is clear is that it will be the same movie. It seems that American semantics don’t cut out among the British, the French, the Italians, and the Spaniards, that they decided to change it to something more understandable to the moviegoing public in their respective countries.

It is not clear if there shall be other European countries which shall be following suit, but it seems that there would be a couple more joiners.
