The first two seasons of Fargo were instant hits. Based on the 1996 film of the same name, by Joel Cohen, the series talks about a small town in Minnesota. Given the success of the earlier season, it was expected that Fargo would be back with the third season.
Fargo Season 3 is about to start shooting in Calgary and the production team is trying to zero down on new actors. Fargo went on to become a critically acclaimed television series, and with Season 3 on its way, they are looking to expand their cast.
According to Calgary Sun, the casting directors are looking for men and women of different race and age. They want anyone who is interested in applying for the series and getting the opportunity to become a part of the star cast of Fargo Season 3.
The cast call for Fargo Season 3 was scheduled to take place at the Clarion Hotel in Calgary. The team will continue shooting thereafter would continue until May, 2017.
Noah Hawley, the show’s creator revealed that Fargo Season 3 will be set in 2010 and show the society’s preoccupation with the smartphones. Hawley had previously thought that he would portray the selfie culture and people’s reaction to it.
People are now taking photos of whatever they see and eat and end up sharing it on the social media. Hawley said that current preoccupation of the world in antithetical to the pragmatism of the simple people that the series deals with.
He wants to place these humble and simple people in a world teeming of narcissism and see how the two polar sides interact with the other. Given the storyline of Season 3, and the brilliant storytelling capability of Hawley, the upcoming season will be a treat for the viewers.
According to Game N Guide, the cast of Fargo Season 3 will include Jim Gaffigan. The Hollywood Reporter informed that Jim Gaffigan was made a series regular by Noah Hawley. He will become a part of the crime drama in the role of Donny Mashman. Mashman will be a police deputy who works with Gloria Burgle (Carrie Coon).
Gaffigan and his wife, Jeannie walked away from The Jim Gaffigan Show two months ago. The two decided to let go of the series which they wrote and produced, to focus on their family. Gaffigan is a Grammy-nominated comedian and he will soon be seen in The Bleeders and Chappaquiddick.
Gloria Burgle will be the chief of police apart from being a newly divorced mother. She will struggle to live up to the expectations of her job as the police chief in Edna Valley while making sense of the world around her.
Given that the third season will focus on the preoccupation of people with their smartphones, Burgle will struggle to figure out how people could connect with the phone in their hands more than the person right in front of them.
She isn’t a fan of technology and finds the smartphones distracting and unnecessary. She fails to understand why society would choose interact through their smart devices instead of exchanging in face-to-face contact.
Ewan McGregor will also be a part of Season 3 of Fargo. He will play the role of two characters, Ray and Emmit Stussy. The Stussy brothers will be complete opposites and will have a competitive relationship. According to the character descriptions, Emmit Stussy is the Parking Lot King in Minnesota.
