The supposed close friendship between A-lister couple Jay Z and music diva Beyonce and rapper Kanye West is now in serious jeopardy following the uncontrolled political rantings of the “Famous” rapper recently.
The 39-year-old husband of Kim Kardashian caused quite a stir when he announced that he did not vote during the 2016 US presidential elections held on November 8 but if he had the chance, he would have supported Donald Trump.
Everyone knows that Jay Z and Beyonce supported the candidacy of Hillary Clinton and with the rather belated ranting of Kanye West, he has obviously put their friendship in serious trouble.
According to a source close to the couple, both Jay Z and Beyonce know that it is a two-way street in the presidential elections and people don’t have to agree with their political views but they believe that Kanye should just shut his mount sometimes.
The same insider also revealed that Jay Z and Beyonce have already lost respect for Kanye West for his misplaced, albeit belated rantings, notes the Hollywood Life.
Canceling his LA concert
Kanye West seems not to be with himself lately. After ranting against Beyonce and Hillary Clinton, he capped off a troubled week by walking off stage in Sacramento, California after just three songs and then pulling out of his next show, reports The Guardian.
The rapper canceled his show in Los Angeles after a bizarre concert in Sacramento where Kanye West only played three songs before going on his trademark ad-libbed speech where he took swipes on Beyonce, Hillary Clinton, radio stations, and FB magnate Mark Zuckerberg.
West started by criticizing radio stations for favoring certain acts and not giving air time to the likes of Frank Ocean and Kid Cudi. He explained that a lot of people present that night felt like they lost.
He pointed out that while people love Drake because Drake is great, he added that Frank Ocean is a great artist too.
He then went on to suggest that a utopia could be created if radio would fall in line with his egalitarian proposals.
West also claimed that Beyonce only agreed to play the MTV Music Awards if she knew before hand that she won the award for video of the year over West and Drake
The rapper was due to play at The Forum in Los Angeles as part of his Saint Pablo tour and as a makeup show for a gig in November that he cut short after losing his voice.
However, on November 20, the venue confirmed the gig was canceled and that fans should seek refunds.
.The cancellation and walk off finished a difficult week for West who was widely criticized after telling a crowd in San Jose that he did not vote in the US election, but if he did, it would have been for Donald Trump.
Going back to her roots
Meanwhile, Beyonce showcased her Southern roots at the 50th Annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards on November 2 by performing the track “Daddy Lessons” from her “Lemonade” album along with Dixie Chicks.
Just like Beyonce, Dixie Chicks have been criticized by conservatives for adding political overtones in their occasional performances.
The appearance of Beyonce at the CMA stage this year follows the participation in the event of Justin Timberlake last year as he performed with Southern rock and country star Chris Stapleton.
Beyonce is from Texas while Timberlake is from Memphis, Tennessee and they both have their country music roots to show for.
While the Queen Bey’s appearance in the event was supposed to be a surprise, but it seems that the cat got out of the bag when she was spotted the day before around Nashville. She joined a throng of performing country music stars at the 50th CMA Awards including Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Kacey Musgraves, and many others.
Garth Brooks was adjudged as the Entertainer of the Year while Chris Stapleton was named as Male Vocalist of the Year. Carrie Underwood was named as the Female Vocalist of the Year while Dann Huff was honored as the Musician of the Year.
