The first season of “One Punch Man” was a great success, and many fans of the show are hopeful for what’s coming up in the next one. Currently, there are mixed reports on the horizon regarding the next installment, but it at least looks like the producers are dedicated to making it as good as possible for their fans.
According to reports from behind the scenes, working on this show is actually quite the demanding task, and it takes a lot of time from everyone involved. It could reportedly take up to two years for the new season to be realized, which is why fans should sit tight and patiently keep scouting for any news about the show.
The success of the first season made it pretty much a guarantee that we’re going to see a second one, and even if the original showrunners had a different intention, we’re sure that the show would have inspired someone else to pick up from where they left off. So far though, the production is still in the same original hands, so fans have nothing to worry about.
At some point, the show is even going to get its own special mobile game, but we don’t know if this will be executed as a “companion app”, similar to the ones we’ve seen for some recently released titles, or if it will be more of a standalone title meant to promote the show.
Needless to say, most fans have been hopeful for the latter, as they see a lot of potential in a whole game based on the production. It’s even possible that the game could expand the original story in ways that wouldn’t make sense on the TV screen, so it’s definitely an idea the producers should explore in even more depth.
Who will be the main antagonist of the new season? This question has been enjoying a lot of discussion in the community, but sadly there doesn’t seem to be a clear answer in sight. There are plenty of theories among fans though, and most fingers seem pointed at Saitama.
However, some claim that it’s actually too obvious to pick him, and the producers are likely preparing a surprise that nobody will see coming. We wouldn’t be quick to jump to any conclusions in any case, as the show has made it clear multiple times in its short run that the most obvious answers are usually not the right ones.
It’s still not clear when the second season will be ready, but most fans seem to have no issue with the idea of waiting a little longer for it, as long as it jumps over the bar set by the first season. And as we pointed out above, that bar is definitely not a low one at this point, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the production takes a longer time to bring to the screen.
It doesn’t seem like this would be a bad thing for it though, at least judging by what people are saying online lately.
In fact, unlike what happens in these cases most of the time, it actually seems like most people would be perfectly fine with waiting a few extra months, or even a year, for the second season to get done. It looks like the show has managed to gather a following of people who actually value the quality of what they watch, and have a more tasteful approach to their shows.
