The highly anticipated game from BioWare, Mass Effect Andromeda or also known as Mass Effect 4, has been under development for a particular amount of time. At the moment, official confirmation on the game is being released as its release date of spring 2017 gradually approaches.
Mass Effect Andromeda will be an entirely fresh start for the series, but it will retain a major portion of its past lore. Moving to a young galaxy means that BioWare can leave behind the decisions that were made by gamers in the earlier games of the series. In conclusion, it means that the next game will not take your Mass Effect 3 ending into account.
Mass Effect Andromeda begins with the player leaving Milky Way galaxy after the events of Mass Effect 2 but also before the Reaper invasion. After that, you go on a 600-year trip in cryo-sleep. Andromeda will feature two major human races.
After a leak from PAX Prime back in 2013, where a selected group of fans were given a behind-closed-doors presentation and inquired for feedback, it has been known to be an aggressive race along with a race of peaceful, ancient people as a guardian race. In April 2015, a major marketing survey leaked that these two races are called Khet and the Remnant.
In September 2016, the Remnant was confirmed through PlayStation 4 Pro footage and the now renamed Kett, was presented in the recent N7 Day footage. At E3, BioWare told Eurogamer that some of the leaked information is currently outdated.
However, other details which emerged from the marketing survey have been proven to be correct, including the name of the new Normandy-type ship, the Tempest.
The generic name provided to the hero is- Pathfinder. According to the leak, the player is a Pathfinder. The character is a combat trained but also an untested explorer who will lead an expedition into the Helius cluster, located in the Andromeda galaxy.
They will do this to find a new home for humanity. While exploring different sprawling regions of solar systems, building colonies and collecting resources, you will be forced to come across a savagery of untamed lands, featuring warring alien races and cutthroat outlaws.
The size is expected to be four times that of Mass Effect 3. Meanwhile, Shepard will not be returning to Mass Effect Andromeda. In the new game, the main character’s name is Ryder.
Players can choose Ryder as male or female. At E3 2016, the female Ryder was introduced, and the male Ryder was revealed during the PlayStation Meeting Event. It was also confirmed that the two characters would be introduced as siblings, Scott and Sara.
For the first time, there will be both male and female options, and furthermore, the two will interact. Players will meet, Alec Ryder, their father. In fact, we have already seen him as the helmet-wearing N7 operative seen during the E3 2014 trailer. In the case of Ryder’s story, the main character will range from a regular colonist to a hero.
The new game is set hundreds of years after the events of ME3. However, in spite of the new setting, there will be nods to different past adventures and lots of fan services for players who wish to seek them out. There will be four arks carrying each of the major races in the Milky Way, and they are all making a jump to Andromeda. They are accompanied by a Citadel type central ship or the vast Nexus.
