Orange is the New Black has been cleared for the third season and this award-winning original Netflix series narrates the tale of author Piper Kerman. Piper was acquitted in a drug trafficking charge and served a year in prison. Orange is the New Black revolves around her life and the incidences that shaped her future.
Season 3 airs in 2015 and the creators have finished the primary filming session, which began earlier this year. Initial rumors suggest that Laura Prepon returns this season as Alex Vause, who is also the central character this time. Alex appeared in the second season as a secondary character, out on parole.
The cast for season 3 introduces Joe Caputo, Cindy Hayes, Gloria Mendoza, Lorna Morello, Poussey Washington, and Dayanara Diaz, apart from the original cast. Jason Biggs, who plays Piper’s ex-fiance Larry, will make a few cameos this season and is not on board full time. George Mendez is also missing out on the action this season as he was arrested.
His mother stages an appearance somewhere down the line. We are not sure about the nature of her character, although, considering Pornstache’s negative influence on the series we will not be surprised if his mother enters as the new antagonist. The producers have revealed that the upcoming season is based on faith, and the struggles of mothers behind bars as Daya gives birth while in prison!
The nature of Alex and Piper’s relationship will also be portrayed this season as Alex returns to prison after a count of Parole violation. Alex pointed a gun at her Parole Office, earning a quick ticket back to prison. Vee was speculated to make a return this season, after staying dormant in the past season, although, Netflix revealed that Vee’s return in Season 3 is unlikely. Lotty has been confirmed for Season 3, although, her character synopsis is yet to be revealed.
Whether these rumors are based on facts or whether they are baseless, need to be determined. Fans will not have to wait for long as the series is currently in the post-production stage and insider information is expected to release soon! Netflix is yet to confirm the official release date, although, the experts have pegged it to June or July 2015.
Orange is the New Black Season 3 is expected to receive similar fanfare as its two previous installments, although, we cannot be too sure unless the series goes live. Fans will have to wait a little longer to catch a glimpse of what this season holds.
