The Winds of Winter Cancellation Rumors in Light of Donald Trump’s Victory in the Presidential Elections Downright Absurd and Ridiculous, Critics Say!

Critically-acclaimed author George R.R. Martin has been one of the vocal supporters of Democrats presidential aspirant Hillary Clinton.

So when Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton during the US presidential elections on November 8, there were wild rumors that came out saying that Martin has decided to cancel the publication of the sixth book of his fantasy novel series, “A Song of Ice and Fire,” entitled “The Winds of Winter,” reports the Parent Herald.

Many critics consider it as baseless, absurd, and ridiculous rumors that somehow cast negative aspersions on the kind of person that George Martin is. They believe that it is an acute way of promoting the book by capitalizing on the recent political exercise in the US.

They also think that Martin is not too hollow as far as his political views or opinions are concerned and it surely has nothing to do with his writing of “The Winds of Winter” as well as the seventh and final book of the series entitled “A Dream of Spring.”

Weeks before the US elections, Martin was seen with Clinton in New Mexico during her campaign. He was also quoted as saying then that Trump’s ads against Clinton were made of assertion, innuendo, and name-calling but there is no substance to them. He added that the ads of the Donald only showed that Trump is just being himself.

He also explained on his Live Journal why he prefers Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump. Unfortunately for the author, the majority of the Americans do not share his political views and it is very evident with Trump’s victory.

Books 6 and 7 to come out together?

Despite the wild rumors, fans and readers are still confident that there is really going to be a “The Winds of Winter” to come out in the book shelves sooner or later.

They cannot just determine when it is going to happen exactly. “The Winds of Winter” has been rumored to come out way back in October 2015 and was previously reported to come out before Season 6 of the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” but that did not happen.

Subsequently, it has been speculated that it would come out before the Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” premieres on HBO in the summer of next year.

However, analysts predict that releasing “The Winds of Winter” before Season 7 shall either provide the ultimate spoilers to the last two seasons of “Game of Thrones” or just alienate the fans of the TV series especially if it is true that the TV series has indeed deviated big time from the books.

It could also be a coordinated strategy between George Martin and the producers of “Game of Thrones” since the TV series has already overtaken the book and it’s no use for the book to muddle the issue further.

Thus, there are also reports coming out of late saying that “The Winds of Winter” shall be released simultaneously with the seventh and final book of the novel series entitled “A Dream of Spring, details the Christian Daily.

Making up for the fan wait

Reports indicate that Martin may release the sixth and seventh books together, possibly as a way to make up for all of the years that fans had to wait to see the book series go back on track with the publication of “The Winds of Winter.”

The Winds of Winter

But it seems unlikely to happen too since aside from the fact that Martin has already admitted that he is a slow writer, releasing the two books simultaneously defeats the sales potentials of each book.

It simply does not make sense from the point of view of the publisher so it is likely that these reports are merely fan-induced speculations.

There are reports last month saying that “The Winds of Winter” was already on proofreading stage so it is likely to come out next year.
