Apparently, the ‘knight’ in the title of the fifth “Transformers” movie has a meaning for what it is – a knight. Based on recent behind-the-set photos showing filming for “Transformers: The Last Knight,” Director Michael Bay is actually taking the battle of the Autobots and the Decepticons in the medieval world.
Sometime in the middle of last month, Michael Bay was spotted filming explosive battle scenes for the robot movie over in Bourne Woods, which is located south of Farnham, Surrey, England, details Comicbook.com.
The setting featured knights, dressed in full armor, on horseback, and off charging into battle, which reminds fans of a “Game of Thrones” battle episode.
Based on rumors, Merlin, King Arthur and his legendary sword, the Excalibur, will play important parts in the film as they shall reportedly interact with the Transformers, making it surreal. But it’s science fiction and it’s a Michael Bay movie.
Michael Bay has been known to pull out his old tricks in filming “Transformers” movies. After getting into a controversy for Nazi-fying Winston Churchill’s birthplace in September, the director said that it does not look what it seems and assured fans and critics alike that Churchill would be smiling a lot in the movie once they see him on it.
Continuing the franchise’s successful run
Michael Bay is said to be pulling all stops to continue the successful run of the franchise, even as more spinoffs are being lined up including a movie on Autobot Bumblebee.
“Transformers: The Last Knight” shall see Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles from “Transformers: Age of Extinction” shown in June 2014, details The Sun of UK.
Mark Wahlberg shall reprise his Cade Yeager role while other cast members of “Transformers 5” include Isabela Moner as Izabella, Josh Duhamel as Lieutenant Colonel William Lennox, John Turturro as Seymour Simmons, Tyrese Gibsons as Robert Epps, as well as Laura Haddock, Jerrod Carmichael, and Anthony Hopkins.
Peter Cullen lends his voice as Optimus Prime while John Goodman provides his voice acting to the Hound.
Putting the wow factor
Filming for “Transformers: The Last Knight” is almost over but Michael Bay seems not content just yet and is still looking to put the wow factor in the movie through practical effects and VFX work.
In a recent update to the Transformers Facebook page, Michael Bay is seen taking cast members Mark Wahlberg and Laura Haddock for a spin in one of the machines used in the physical effects for “Transformers: The Last Knight” even with the presence of green screen around it.
The video clip shows Director Bay putting Haddock and Wahlberg through their paces on a giant rig. The set-up is referred to as the ‘room roll.’ And the giant blade is likely to end up on the end of some kind of nefarious robot.
The additional effects work that Michael Bay shall be incorporating in the movie will make some of the scenes truly breathtaking just like in “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” skydiving sequence.
After the filming location in the United Kingdom, including a controversial shoot involving the ‘Nazification’ of Winston Churchill’s ancestral home, the last stretch of filming for “Transformers: The Last Knight” shall head back to the US for the Chicago leg of its shoot.
Thus far, the storyline for the movie is still shrouded in secrecy, which is actually a good strategy on the part of Director Bay and the producers.
Just recently, Bay also added Liam Garrigan as a cast member of the film to play the role of King Arthur. He will be joining the other stars of “Transformers: The Last Knight.”
“Transformers: The Last Knight” is set to hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
Meanwhile, Michael Bay has parried allegations and accusations that “Transformers: The Last Knight” would be disrespecting the veterans of the World War II or the memories of the United Kingdom Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
