Director Juan Antonio (J.A.) Bayona of “Jurassic World 2” appears all set to roll the cameras as casting for the film is slowly being completed especially with the addition of actors Rafe Spall and Toby Jones recently.
The respective roles of the two actors have yet to be disclosed and the only casting confirmation before the addition of Spall and Jones are the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who shall be reprising their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, respectively, details Collider.
Rafe Spall was best known for his roles in “Prometheus” and “Hot Fuzz,” while Toby Jones has on his acting plate stints in “Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy,” “Captain America: First Avenger,” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
In addition to playing Millburn in “Prometheus,” Spall also starred in several other well-known films, including “Life of Pi” and “The Big Short.”
Jones, on the other hand, starred as Dr. Arnim Zola in the first two “Captain America” films, and also played Claudius Templesmith in “The Hunger Games” movies, reports IGN.
Reports also have it that the producers took it to task to finalize the actors for the two parts that have been taken on by Spall and Jones before they proceed to test or audition for another pair of key roles in “Jurassic World 2.”
Filming for the movie is set to begin early next year, which is just about right for Director J.A. Bayona as the film is set to hit theaters on June 22, 2018.
A successful franchise reboot
While not all film reboots or sequels are guaranteed successes, “Jurassic World” surpassed all expectations by grossing $1.67 billion at the box office, making it the fourth highest-grossing movie in the world for all time.
It would be interesting to find out if the fans and viewers would be just as hungry for the sequel or not but if it is up to Director J.A. Bayona, he is looking to equal if not surpass the accomplishment of Director Colin Trevorrow, who helmed “Jurassic World.”
Another interesting topic online about “Jurassic World 2” is whether it will have a different setting other than the jungle because based on “Jurassic World,” it seems like the possibility of genetically engineered dinosaurs wreaking havoc in the city or someplace else other than Isla Nublar looms very high.
The first movie was filmed on location in Hawaii and it is still not clear if the cast and crew will go back to the place to do the sequel or ultimately decides to take their act and the dinosaurs somewhere.
Filming schedule is also set
“Jurassic World 2” now has a confirmed filming schedule from February to June next year. There were previous reports saying that the filming of the movie shall be held in Hawaii, just like the first film and the “Jurassic Park” film trilogy before it but the location is going to be in the UK.
But what made the headlines recently is when the movie made a casting call for a character named Lucy in “Jurassic World 2.”
The casting breakdown for the child role was posted on the movie’s casting website and it called for a young girl of nine years of age. She must be at least nine years of age by February 2017 but cannot be over 10 years old.
The casting call went on to say that the child must be sensitive and clever actress capable of handling long and complex scenes. The website added that Lucy must be able to handle a range of emotions from tender moments with her father, to anxiety, bravery, and shock.
The site also said that the role represents a huge and exciting opportunity for a young actress to play a significant role in a major Hollywood blockbuster.
