Zayn Malik may have gone on as a solo artist after he left the British boy band One Direction in March last year but he still keeps on talking about the group that some critics are saying that he appears to be sour-graping.
He recently came out to say that he did not write the farewell message he supposed to have written for the remaining four members of 1D, notes Unreality TV.
When he finally decided to quit One Direction, Zayn Malik supposedly released a statement where he was supposed to have apologized to the fans if he has let anyone down
The letter said that he has to do what he feels right in his heart, adding that he was leaving because he wants to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.
Zayn’s supposed message went on to say that he has four friends for life in Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Niall Horan. He ended it by saying that he knows they will continue to be the best band in the world.
The former 1D member revealed in a recent interview that he did not ever write those words. He said that it was someone from his management team that wrote the farewell note instead and fans are not happy about being duped.
He said he did not write the message because he is not a 35-year-old lawyer. He admits that he does not write like that.
Feeling locked inside a cage
In another interview, Zayn Malik said that he wanted to get out of One Direction because he felt locked inside a cage while touring and making music with the group, notes the Inquisitr.
He revealed that his creative contributions to the band’s music were often overlooked in favor of bubblegum pop music.
It would eventually see him sign a new record deal with RCA, but this time around, he was heading out for a solo career instead.
One year after having left the group, Zayn Malik has spoken out as to why there was just no chance he could’ve stayed with the band at that time, revealing that he wasn’t mentally prepared for the success that came with being in One Direction.
He also admitted that he was very ignorant at 17 and blind beyond his years, clearly referring to his time on “The X Factor of UK,” where he first found fame after being placed in a boy group with the likes of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan.
Struggling with anxiety
Zayn Malik has very much struggled with his own life in the limelight, as documented through the scandalous headlines that have surfaced about the 23-year-old in recent years.
While fans were convinced that Malik was happily in love with then-fiancé Perrie Edwards, shocking photos showed the pop star sleeping in bed with another woman, evidently causing problems in his former relationship and, evidently enough, with his group members.
The singer was beginning to attract scandals that a group such as One Direction would always want to stay away from, especially considering the fact that their target audience is teenage girls.
But aside from the handful of cheating allegations that were made during his relationship with Perrie Edwards, Zayn Malik has also been very vocal about his ongoing struggle dealing with anxiety.
Since leaving the boy band, Zayn has only performed at a handful of shows, with sources claiming that there won’t be a tour in support of his debut album, “Mind of Mine,” definitely.
During his time with One Direction, Zayn was on tour almost every year, releasing platinum-selling albums and making endless TV appearances. But judging by his latest interview, it’s apparent that Malik felt extremely uncomfortable being pushed into doing things he clearly wasn’t ready for.
