Uncharted 4 DLC Possibly Coming in December, What Will It Add to the Game? Let’s See

“Uncharted 4” already had a pretty successful initial release, and the game managed to live up to most expectations the franchise’s fans had for it. Now that they’ve had a chance to play around with it for a while though, most people are looking to get their hands on some additional content in order to revisit the excellent gameplay.

Current reports indicate that the DLC for the game will be released in December, and the announcement will happen at the PSX event. This will match the previous announcements by Naughty Dog and would also make sense with regards to their recent development pace, so many eyes are fixed on the event and patiently waiting to see what the studio has been preparing.

What exactly will the new DLC bring to the table for fans of the original game? We’ve seen various exciting reports from the developers, and they seem to be looking forward to this release as much as their fans, if not more.

According to reports, the new content will expand the story of the game significantly, and will offer a fantastic new adventure for players. However, some of the previous rumors about the story have apparently turned out to be false.

For example, there were various claims that we would see the daughter of Nathan Drake in the new content. Those rumors got even stronger recently, however the developers haven’t addressed them and it’s starting to look like they might not prove correct.

Some players were skeptical about the idea in the first place, claiming that it would be out of place for the overall design of the game, but that’s a bit of a bold statement, considering how much “Uncharted 4” did to push the franchise forward in the first place. It’s clear that Naughty Dog wanted to take some risks with the new game, and this could easily extend to the DLC as well.

One interesting detail that has surfaced recently is that the DLC will apparently work as a standalone game as well. That would make it more of an expansion – or even a mini-sequel – rather than ordinary DLC, and it’s certainly not a bad idea if it’s pulled off correctly.

It could also be a clever way to significantly expand the story without having to release an entire new game, and Naughty Dog seem to have planned this out very carefully. The studio has always treated this particular franchise with a lot of care and attention, and it’s good to see that they’ve put so much thought into the DLC for the last game as well.

Who knows, maybe some players will actually learn about the franchise itself by playing the upcoming new release, and will be tempted to explore “Uncharted 4” and the previous games. Considering the huge legacy they have, that definitely wouldn’t be a bad thing for the industry. It could also inspire other studios to explore a similar direction in their gameplay and story designs.

Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End

Meanwhile, players have been having fun with the multiplayer beta test which started on Wednesday, and it looks like the game has a serious potential for high-paced online play. There are some quirks that have to be ironed out, of course, but that’s what the beta is for in the end. Also, some gameplay elements are apparently missing from the current version, although it’s not clear if that’s intentional due to balancing reasons, or if they will be added later on.
