Daniel Craig is one of the most famous James Bond actors. He had previously implied that he might not return for the next James Bond movie. However, it now seems like Daniel Craig has had a change of heart. According to The Guardian, Daniel Craig will continue with the franchise as long as he gets a kick out of it.
Craig went on record to state that he had the best job in the world. He could do the most interesting things while on the sets of a James Bond movie. He can ride the best cars and be with the prettiest girls, of course, there’s no other job like it!
Daniel Craig had said after Spectre that he would rather slash his wrists than make another James Bond movie. Fans at the New Yorker festival were rather pleased to hear Daniel Craig express interest in more James Bond films in the future.
His sentiments are in line with executive producer, Callum McDougall. McDougall said that Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the franchise heads, always considered Daniel Craig as their first choice for the titular character of James Bond.
With Daniel Craig’s previous sentiments about making another James Bond film, there was a lot of speculation about which actor might take his place. The top contender for the role was Michael Fassbender.
He is one of the most popular actors in the film industry and given his good looks and muscular physique; it is easy to understand why he was a natural choice for the role of the 007 agent.
Fassbender was pretty quiet about the whole affair, but he has recently broken his silence over the rumor. Fassbender when enquired about the prospect of him becoming the new James Bond by GQ magazine, was pretty surprised.
He couldn’t believe that the rumor was still on. Michael Fassbender professed his love for the franchise but said that he wasn’t going to fill Daniel Craig’s shoe in the upcoming film. He stated that Craig had created a benchmark with his acting, for the actors in his age bracket.
Den of Geek reported that Michael Fassbender was open to a younger 007 agent and threw names like Jack O’Connell and Ryan Gosling, who might do justice to the role. Tom Hiddleston is also a top contender for the role.
Fassbender didn’t just stop there, and he even opened up the possibilities of a female James Bond this time around. However, he didn’t provide the names of the actresses he thought would do justice to the British agent’s role.
In fact, Fassbender wasn’t the first one to talk about a female James Bond. Roger Moore, had last donned the suit and had a glass of the martini, back in 1985. Moore played the role of James Bond last in A View to a Kill, but he still feels protective of the character.
Moore has always been skeptical about changes in the franchise, and while he was open to a female version of James Bond, he made it clear that the character wouldn’t be anything like the James Bond that the viewers connect with.
He said that Jane Bond could be a possibility, but she has to be different from James Bond, and it cannot be in the same franchise.
Sony owns the rights of James Bond. They had recently tried to revive the Ghostbusters franchise with an all-woman cast, but it was a total disaster! Given the outcome of their previous venture, there isn’t any chance of them walking the same path with James Bond.
