Late in September, there were reports saying that Bethesda Studios has abandoned the development of the PlayStation 4 mods for its post-apocalyptic role-playing game “Fallout 4.”
Apparently, that was not true because as it turned out the game developer just wanted to buy time for the development of the “Fallout 4” PS4 mods. That’s in addition to the fact that it also wanted to make sure that the mods do not just come out on the Sony gaming console but also on the Xbox One and the PC.
PS4 mods will enable gamers to modify and create their own content by using the Creation Kit that was made available.
It was Bethesda vice president for public relations and marketing Pete Hines who recently confirmed that the studio is now working to have mods work the same on all platforms, reports the Christian Today.
Release date for PS4 mods
He also disclosed that they previously attempted to come out with “Fallout 4” mods for the Xbox One with the same feature and extent as the PS4 mods but it was not approved. As to whether things will change in the future or remain the same, Hines said that it was not up to him to decide.
While Bethesda has not yet announced a release date for the “Fallout 4” PS4 mods, what seems certain based on recent reports is that it would come out after the game developer releases the “Skyrim Special Edition” mods.
The game developer confirmed earlier this year that after its work is complete on “Skyrim Special Edition,” they shall be updating “Fallout 4’ for both mods and the PS4 Pro, reports the Express of UK.
Gamers could expect the “Fallout 4” PS4 mods to be as big as 1GB of content because that was the same size of mods that recently came to the remastered version of Bethesda’s equally popular role-playing game “The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.”
Hines also explained that “Fallout 4” PS4 mods will not come with external assets so players will have to settle with the ones that the game has, at least for the time being.
He said that the arrival of external assets is not dependent on Bethesda Studios but on Sony.
Bethesda’s website is now being populated with PS4 mods for “Skyrim” while the studio has been busy putting together a guide on how to get the most out of creating free content.
The delay in the release of the ‘Fallout 4’ PS4 mods
Sometime in September, Bethesda has officially denied rumors and speculations alluding that its alleged exclusivity deal with Microsoft is the main reason why the long-reported “Fallout 4” PlayStation 4 mods was delayed.
Pete Hines said then that the delay in the release of the “Fallout 4” PS4 mods does not have anything to do with any exclusivity deal with Microsoft which the game developer does not have.
Hines said that Bethesda has not signed any exclusive contract with Microsoft, adding that they have always wanted to bring the mods to all gaming platforms as early as June.
For some technical reason, Bethesda encountered some difficulty in bringing out the “Fallout 4” PS4 mods that it finally decided to put it on the backburner.
The absence of PS4 mods in “Fallout 4” is the third time that Bethesda Studios has done so in its high-profile video game.
It could be recalled that the game developer also did not release the PS4 mods for “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” which led to major disappointments to many gamers and the gaming community in general.
The game developer previously did it to “Farming Simulator 17” despite confirming it beforehand.
