‘Constantine’ Season 2 Could Finally Happen Next Year as Positive Signs Point to The CW Reviving the TV Series

It will just be a matter of time before the aborted second season of the American supernatural drama TV series “Constantine” could happen once again on the small screen.

With the way DC Comics and The CW are hyping John Constantine as of late, it looks very much like a prelude to the revival of “Constantine” in the network sometime next year.

Movie News Guide has actually come up with four key reasons why it believes that “Constantine” will be coming back on TV.

The first one is the fact that while Season 1 of the TV show ended with a major cliffhanger, it would be coming soon to DVD and Blu-Ray. The home video versions will be available on Warner Archive Store. Everyone knows that Warner Bros and DC Comics have partnered to bring the DC Expanded Universe on films and also on the small screen.

Interestingly, “Constantine” is not the only TV series coming soon to Warner Archive Store as “Lucifer,” “The 100,” and “iZombie” shall also be having their Blu-Ray home versions too.

The second sign is the airing of “Constantine” Season 1 on the free web streaming service CW Seed recently. While The CW and CW Seed are independent of each other, it still does not take away the fact that the first season of “Constantine” ended with a major cliffhanger and CW Seed would have only disappointed its viewers if it has no plans, or its sister network, of airing or reviving the Season 2 of the TV series.

The third positive sign is the fact that John Constantine, played by Matt Hardy, shall be appearing in at least three The CW shows based on DC Comics including “Supergirl,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “The Flash.”

He shall no longer be playing a cameo on “Arrow” as he had already done so last year.

And finally, Matt Ryan has just voiced “Constantine” in the animated film, “Justice League Dark.” A positive reception from the audience on the character’s return on screen may prompt The CW or other networks to pick up the show for its Season 2.

Fans want the full cast of “Constantine’ back

There is a good chance that “Constantine” Season 2 might be revived by another network soon, other than its original network, NBC.

And it seems that the frontrunner is The CW considering that the network has already consolidated all the TV series based on DC Comics under its stable. “Constantine” would certainly be a welcome addition to its fold.

Reports have it that if and when The CW picks up the show for Season 2, it would have the difficulty of picking up all the cast members of the original “Constantine” as well because they have already gone separate ways.

According to the same rumors, the only cast member who could be certain is Matt Ryan. But  fans really want everyone to be back onboard to ensure continuity because losing key people would only mean that it is an entirely different show already and not the “Constantine” that they have seen on NBC last year.

How their schedules look like at this time

Charles Halford, who played Chas in “Constantine,” appears to have a good chance of coming back as he has a fairly open schedule, notes Lyles Movie Files

Angelica Celaya, who played Constantine’s potential love interest Zed, is likewise a free agent. She has appeared on various TV series including “Castle,” “Agent X,” and “Criminal Minds: Beyond Border,” but nothing permanent. She could return if “Constantine” gets the green light.

However, Harold Perrineau, who plays Manny, has a full schedule. He is lined up for “The Best Man Wedding” and roles in “When We Were Pirates” and “The Dancing Bull.”

He also landed a series role on “Claws,” a TV show pilot for TNT, which could cause complications if TNT moves forward with the series. But it should be noted that while he is one of the key cast members in “Constantine,” Manny is not a series regular on the show and is only in a recurring role.
