Now that the announcement of “Red Dead Redemption 2” is real and we know for a fact that the game is coming, various discussions have cropped up regarding what exactly it’s going to offer, how it will be distributed, and other details that players are concerned with.
Recent rumors have brought up an interesting possibility that some likely didn’t expect – it’s suggested that “Red Dead Redemption 2” could arrive to the PC this time, instead of skipping the platform like its predecessor. This has obviously made many of Rockstar’s fans excited, but it’s important to keep in mind that it’s just a rumor.
It’s also good to remember what happened with “GTA 5”, as even though the game got a PC release eventually, it arrived with a significant delay behind the console version. This has been a common trend with releases by the studio recently, and few players were actually surprised to see it, so we fully expect something similar to happen with “Red Dead Redemption 2” as well, if it’s even planned for the PC at this point.
Rockstar have been relatively quiet about their exact plans for the game, even though they haven’t been shy on the promotional materials. We recently got treated to an exciting trailer that gave us a glimpse into what “Red Dead Redemption 2” will offer, and fans have been dissecting the trailer basically frame by frame trying to find any clues about the game in it.
Some claim to have figured out where “Red Dead Redemption 2” is taking place, although it’s hard to tell if the logic behind that makes sense, or if it’s more of a coincidence. We wouldn’t be surprised if Rockstar did actually include some hints about the title in the trailer, but players should also be careful not to look too much into those materials if they don’t want to feel disappointed in the end.
On the other hand, we’ve also seen some more unusual rumors about the game, such as talks of an alternate history timeline which mixes the game’s setting with modern times. This has, strangely enough, been repeated several times already, but we find it hard to believe that Rockstar would take the game in such a direction for many reasons.
The most obvious one is that they would disappoint and alienate a large portion of their fan base by doing that, as the change would be far too great for many people who were originally fans of “Red Dead Redemption”. It might work out well in terms of bringing in new people, but if the cost of that is the reputation of the franchise as a whole, the studio might be better off looking in another direction.
Multiplayer is another major topic of discussion among fans, and some have interesting ideas for game modes that can be included in “Red Dead Redemption 2”. It’s been a while since gamers have had a chance to run around in a Western environment shooting at each other, so this definitely has a lot of potential for fun.
Other reports about the game talk about possible issues in its development behind the scenes, as the studio has apparently hit some problems in the past when they were developing on last-gen consoles. Considering that they are not targeting the new game on that hardware though, so it looks like they’ve decided to drop the idea of last-gen hardware completely at some point.
