With Halloween just around the corner, the freemium mobile strategy game “Clash of Clans” shall be getting its Halloween 2016 update very soon which shall reportedly feature a spooky shipyard shipwreck and a shipyard special event.
Finnish game developer Supercell recently teased via Twitter that the Halloween 2016 update to “Clash of Clans” will be happening shortly when it put a hashtag ‘soon’ on its latest tweet along with a spooky “Clash of Clans” photo with the words ‘Halloween is coming’ printed in the corner, details iDigital Times.
Gamers are saying that the game could come out as early as this week or could be next week.
While Supercell has not given an official statement regarding the actual release date of the Halloween 2016 update to “Clash of Clans,” there have been a number of leaks that made it to Reddit and the official “Clash of Clans” forums as early as almost two weeks ago.
The leaks include spooky Halloween pumpkins, a shipyard shipwreck, statues, special character looks, among many others.
The same information revealed that the update shall also have a Shipyard special event. Redditors have been theorizing that the Shipyard event will likely be all about a shipwreck that players need to repair.
Once the shipwreck is fixed, the restored ship will function in the same way as the submarine does in the other freemium mobile strategy game of Supercell, “Boom Beach.” The restored ship will be used to search and gather gold.
According to reports, the shipyard will unlock at Town Hall 4 and the shipwreck will cost 50,000 gold to repair.
The shipwreck is a feature that is never-before-seen through the history of “Clash of Clans,” reports the Parent Herald.
Still a most played game
Despite the advent of new mobile games including the sensational mobile augmented reality game “Pokemon Go,” “Clash of Clans” is still one of the most played games on mobile devices today.
Indicative of the huge success of “Clash of Clans,” the game posted US$2.3 billion in revenue and US$930 million in profit in 2014.
But those figures are already on the way down as the best times for the game happened when it was introduced in 2012 and it went skyrocketing so high the following year with more than 30 million users worldwide.
“Clash of Clans” has actually made Supercell the foremost key player and top developer in the mobile game industry.
Up until last year, “Clash of Clans” has kept its followers hooked by consistently adding new features through regular updates. The company’s development team always provide a quick response to glitches and other technical difficulties experienced by the players.
Ban caused player migration
From previously being the most popular game on mobile devices in the world, “Clash of Clans” has lost its grip to the title with the arrival of the mobile augmented reality game “Pokemon Go.”
Amid the rampage of “Pokemon Go,” Supercell launched a massive ban among players who have been using bots to create cheats on “Clash of Clans.” As a result, a number of “CoC” players have started migrating to “Pokemon Go” or other mobile games, especially those innocent ones who were also banned.
But the decision of Supercell was meant more to cleanse the game of bots and it successfully did. Apparently, the massive ban was a prelude to a major expansion coming to the game this month.
Apparently, it is part of the strategy of the Finnish game developer in order to keep or increase the player’s interest in the game and possibly bring back those who migrated to “Pokemon Go” or other mobile games.
