‘Nashville’ Season 5 to Feature Shorter Scripts to Give More Time for the Music to Play Out, Says Co-showrunner

The fifth season of the American musical drama TV series “Nashville” has been confirmed to air on the CMT on January 5 next year.

While there have been plenty of casting reports and spoilers about the upcoming fifth season of “Nashville” following its move from ABC to CMT after its Season 4 finale, Marshall Herskovitz, co-showrunner of the show, revealed that they have mandated the writers to shorten the scripts in order to give more time for music to play out, reports the Ecumenical News.

With that being said, fans of the music drama can look forward to hearing more songs in the upcoming season of “Nashville” as opposed to heavy and continuous drama which the past seasons seem to have fallen into.

Herskovitz also pointed out that there would also be different styles of music that would be introduced and featured in the upcoming fifth season other than country music.

The latest trailer for the TV series

A little over two months before its Season 5 premiere on CMT, the latest trailer of “Nashville” has already been released by the network and it focuses on the return of Juliette Barnes, played by Hayden Panettiere.

The 60-second video footage also featured Rayna James, played by Connie Briton, saying that everybody breaks and that make everyone human.

Juliette was also quoted as saying that they tape themselves together so that no one can see their flawed hearts, which appears to be a continuation of the statement of Rayna.

The trailer also saw Scarlett O’Connor, played by Clare Bowen, who said that not all who break are broken, citing that sometimes people have to break their own hearts to put the pieces back in the right place.

Deacon Claybourne, played by Charles Esten, was also quoted as saying in the trailer that he left a trail of destruction, hurt people he has loved, and also let down the people who loved him.

Will Lexington, played by Chris Carmack, also declared that if his choices have made him, it is still music that saves him.

It is clear that the trailer wanted to point out that if there is one thing that the main characters agree on is that they resort to their music as their escape. It also highlighted the drama-filled Season 5 that would be rich in passion, pain, anger, and joy.

Juliette is safe and sound

The other thing that the trailer has made it clear is that Juliette is safe and sound in Season 5, which is already a welcome treat to fans of “Nashville.”

Juliette’s fate was left in question at the end of the previous season when her plane lost radio contact and went off the radar, reports the Christian Times.

In addition, the uncertainty about Hayden Panettiere’s return was fueled by the fact that the “Nashville” actress briefly left the musical drama in Season 4 to seek treatment at a rehab facility for postpartum depression following the birth of her daughter in December 2014.

But it now looks like Panettiere is back for good and Juliette will be alive and well in the highly anticipated Season 5 premiere.

Meanwhile, after the recent announcement of the casting of Rhiannon Giddens and Jen Richards, the producers of “Nashville” has announced the inclusion of actor Murray Bartlett in the upcoming Season 5 of the show.

Nashville season 4

The news spawned speculations that “Nashville” may touch into the world of fashion as well and somehow veer off its country music scene storyline.

Bartlett, who was last seen in the daytime TV series “Looking,” will take on the role of Jakob Fine, a very handsome, charismatic, and successful men’s fashion designer.

It will be a recurring role for Bartlett and fans are already very excited for the new casting additions to the show.
