The fifth installment of the successful pirate movie franchise officially titled “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” has been confirmed to be a reboot of the film series after the big letdown that was the fourth movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” shown in May 2011.

Movie critics have actually viewed the strength of the four movies of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise as strong, weaker, weak, and weakest, in order of their chronology, notes Moviepilot.

Thus, it was only appropriate for Disney Pictures to turn the upcoming fifth movie as a reboot of the franchise.

In fact, there are reports going around saying that “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” is looking to capture the breath of fresh air that the first film delivered 13 years ago. The producers are also hoping that the upcoming fifth film would breathe life back into the franchise.

Bound to carry the franchise on his back

They believe that the first movie was a runaway hit because of its campy humor, supernatural twist, and Johnny Depp’s portrayal of the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow, regarded as one of the best character introductions in Hollywood cinema in the current generation.

Kaya Scodelario, who shall be joining the movie for the first time as Carina Smyth, said in a recent interview that “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” shall have a lot more of the first movie because the producers wanted to take the film back to its beginning.

Scodelario said that her character is an astronomer and also an academic. Carina is fighting for the right to study at the university because women could not do so at that time. She was looking for the Trident of Poseidon, and she has a diary with clues on it. It so happened that Captain Jack is also looking for the same artifact to protect himself from Captain Salazar, played by Javier Bardem, and that’s where the adventures begin.

She explained that the producers wanted to have an epic journey and for every plot to make sense by tying all loose ends and lead to new storylines.
