Legends of Tomorrow started on a very strong note, and many fans and critics had high hopes for the show’s future. However, by the end of the first season the ratings had gone down a bit, and some critics started to point out various flaws in the formula. Still, the production was renewed for a second season, and fans have recently been getting small glimpses into what it will offer.
According to one of the most recent previews, Captain Cold will be coming back. This is apparently a surprising development for some fans, as one of the main complaints about Legends of Tomorrow was aimed at the show’s “chaotic” nature and the messy state of its character composition.
It’s true that the first season brought quite a lot of faces to the screen, but this doesn’t mean that the producers should stop expanding the cast at this point. And for what it’s worth, we’ve seen an exciting preview for Captain Cold, showing that the showrunners obviously want to preserve the integrity of their original idea, and aren’t adding new characters just for the sake of it.
What remains unclear is how exactly the producers plan on bringing him back, as the last time we saw Captain Cold, he died. Of course, the nature of this show makes it quite unsurprising that a previously dead character would return from the grave, and there are multiple possibilities for how the producers can approach this.
It’s actually quite entertaining to read through some of the discussions fans have been having about this, as they seem to have some interesting ideas. It might turn out that the official story told by the show’s writers in the end will be more boring than some of the ideas fans have brought up, but we’ll have to wait for the new season to decide on that.
Meanwhile, those who can’t wait for season 2 of “Legends of Tomorrow” to check out Captain Cold, should tune in for the next episode of “The Flash”. A preview for the upcoming episode 4 indicates that the character will make an appearance there, so this could give some hints about his reincarnation in the other show.
Some fans have been enjoying the trend of mixing characters between different shows that take place in the same universe, and the various studios responsible for the current superhero franchises have been doing quite the good job at handling this.
As we pointed out above, “Legends of Tomorrow” actually took some criticism for the producers’ heavy-handed approach to adding new characters to the mix, but hopefully they are going to tone things down a bit in season 2 and start fleshing out some of the current characters in more detail.
It’s not like there’s a lack of candidates for this, as many of the main characters on the show could benefit from some additional development. We wouldn’t be surprised if there are a few more deaths throughout season 2 – possibly on the side of the good guys too – if the producers decide to shrink the circle of cast members.
There’s still a lot of time to go in this season, so anything is possible. The producers have made it clear that they’re willing to go to some rather shocking lengths in order to keep the plot moving along, so season 2 might just shake things up even more than the first one.
