Google has a very popular suite of apps that you can use as a member for free. The most popular app is clearly Gmail, but now that Google has recently updated Google Maps, that one could be picking up some style points. Google Maps has been around for some time now and has been very helpful to those that are looking for a place to eat, sleep or just have a good time. With detailed satellite images, Google has put together one of the best map applications on the internet.
It was not that long ago that Google implemented Street View. This allowed you to essentially walk down the street within Google Maps and check out homes, businesses and sometimes even the people that frequent them. The latest update brings something even more exciting to the app and could easily be considered top of the line “eye candy”. Google started using 3D models of buildings and other landmarks you can see within Google Earth and Google Maps.
As if you had to ask, the images within the updated apps are completely stunning. The details are very specific and give you hours of brand new time to waste while checking out places like New York City or San Francisco (the only two cities available right now). Just enable Earth View within the application and you are all set to check out some landmarks without even leaving home. According to sources, a couple of the most appealing are the Freedom Tower an d the Statue of liberty. The Bay Bridge is clearly going to be the most eyeballed location on the west coast for now.
Google is planning to make the 3D models available in more cities around the world throughout next year. The Google Maps app was updated back in May of last year and that brought 3D imagery to another level, but there are comparison shots available online and the new 3D models are even more amazing to look at. Google does a great job of giving online users a place to go for free apps.
