This might not seem like a big deal, but if you talk to anyone that has played the game on PS3 or Xbox 360 there is a big difference. According to gamers, the older consoles allowed you to create and save up to 100 wrestlers. Most people are fine with a few changes from one console version to another, but 75 less slots to save wrestlers is a significant change.
Fans took to Twitter to see if the slots would be expanded or not and the answer was “always looking to expand — pushed the limit this year”. The main reason that the slots were reduced was because the PS4 and Xbox One save larger files for each created wrestler. In terms of graphics and how much detail goes into the game, that answer does make sense. The first thing you might have thought was “who is saving all these wrestlers”, but if you allow the players to do it, they are going to use the feature.
The question and answer session on Twitter was concluded by saying that a number of slots could be freed up with “compressing files sizes” with a downloadable patch to the game. Video games have come a long way over the last 5 10 years and that includes improved graphics engines, larger hard drives and even downloadable content that you can plug right into your game. According to sources online, the game is going to feature “career mode”, which they claim can give you a reason to put a lot more time into the game.
Comparing this version of the game to older versions is not going to be easy because a lot of the older game was lost due to upgrades needed for the new consoles. There will be a learning curve that could frustrate some, but the most annoying thing reported is the constant loading screens. Loading screens have been a major part of newer games and could be part of having larger files to load for different parts of games.
If you are not a wresting fan, the game might not be all that exciting for you to play. Most of the wrestling game that have been released are not going to be contenders for Game of the Year. Now that you can only save 25 of your ultimate wrestlers, it might give gamers a reason to skip the game until updates have been sent out to deal with the issues they are concerned with.
