The last time that the world has gotten an official update on the health condition of the former seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher was when their family lawyer sued the German magazine Bunte last month for publishing that the F1 racer could already walk and raise his arm, which according to the complaint is not true at all.
Without going into the details of the documents filed in court, what seems clear from the suit is that Michael Schumacher still cannot walk and is most likely experiencing slow and painful recovery, not only for himself but for his family.
But accordingly, the family and friends of Michael Schumacher have not given up on him and continues to pray for his recovery, details the iTech Post.
The suit filed by the family lawyer against Bunte magazine may have probably stemmed from the continued request of the family for privacy ever since Schumi had the tragic skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013.
Come December this year, it would already mark three years from the time that Michael Schumacher had that fatal accident and the development of his health condition has been painfully slow.
Schumacher spent six months in a coma after hitting his head on a rock and has been cared for since at his house in Lake Geneva in Switzerland.
Irresponsible reporting
Family lawyer Felix Damm told the court that Michael Schumacher still cannot walk and is unable to stand even with the assistance of therapists.
The original report published by Bunte last December featured a picture of Schumacher on the cover with the headline “He can walk again!”
Michael Schumacher’s manager and good friend Sabine Kehm brands the report as irresponsible. She explained that it is just unfortunate that the public is made to believe the recent press report saying that Michael could move again, which she says is not true.
She pointed out that such speculation is irresponsible because, given the seriousness of Michael’s injuries, his privacy is very important for the F1 racer. Kehm also added that the report also gives false hopes to many involved people, details The Guardian.
Inaccurate report of physical condition
While the intention of the report was obviously good as it wanted to raise the hopes of the millions of fans of Schumacher that their idol could be well again. Bunte also said that the racer is very thin and could already raise his arm. His weight might be quite expected but his being able to walk and raise his arm are far from the truth apparently.
As such, the family decided to sue the German magazine for publishing the inaccurate physical condition of Michael. The family lawyer, Felix Damm, explained in the suit that it is untrue that Michael can already walk or raise his arm.
The Schumacher family is seeking a monetary claim of between EUR 40,000 (US$44,684) to EUR 100,000 (US$111,710) from Bunte magazine.
In order to debunk the claim of Bunte magazine, Felix Damm, had to detail to the German court the extent of Schumacher’s injuries in the lawsuit.
The family lawyer revealed that Michael Schumacher still cannot walk almost three years after his tragic skiing accident.
Nothing is impossible with God. That seems to be the message of former F1 priest Don Sergio Mantovani when asked about the health condition of legendary Formula One racer Michael Schumacher.
Mantovani said that Schumi is one who believes in God even though he might have never been to church and his belief in God would be crucial in helping him recover from his ordeal.
Schumacher had a skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013 and has since been bed-ridden and recuperating in his home in Lake Geneva in Switzerland, employing the services of 15 doctors and medical care experts just to ensure that he recovers soon.
