Various rumors have been making the rounds about “The Originals”, and the fourth season of the show is surrounded by more drama than ever. One of the more worrying claims for fans is that Klaus may face his death, while on the other hand there is some speculation that the show itself might be on its way out.
However, at least the latter rumor doesn’t sound that bad in its full context – according to it, the show might simply switch networks as the CW are reportedly looking to fill its slot with something else. More specifically, it could move to ABC after its fourth season, but at least it looks like it’s not going to get cancelled as a whole.
Many fans of “The Originals” have suspected that something might be wrong behind the scenes for a while now, and this speculation grew stronger with the announcement that the new season will have fewer episodes than before.
We’ve heard rumors proposing other explanations for the shorter season though, so it’s still possible that nothing is going to change in the long run. The show certainly still has a strong potential to remain on the screen for at least a couple more seasons, so it would be a smart move for its producers to hold on to it.
Other rumors have been a bit more positive, claiming that not only will Klaus end up okay, but that he might also find himself back together with Caroline. This is actually something that fans have wanted to see for a long time, and it looks like they might get their wish fulfilled. Of course, this is only a rumor so far, so it might turn out that things will move in the exact opposite direction.
A lot will change in the new season in general, as the show will move a long time into the future. We’ll see some characters changing significantly, while others may reveal additional layers of their personalities. It looks like the producers of “The Originals” want to tell a bit of a different story with this season, so we can see where fans are coming from when they worry that it might be the show’s last.
There are still about three months to go before season 4 actually arrives though, so a lot can change until then. If there is indeed a negative development coming up that we should know about, we expect the producers to address it before the end of the year.
With the season scheduled for release in January, it wouldn’t be a good move for them to keep their fans in the dark until the very end. With that in mind, if we don’t hear anything significant by the end of December, it’s probably safe to assume that “The Originals” isn’t going anywhere, and that fans should expect to hear more announcements after the new season is over.
There is one final possibility that some fans have brought up. The ratings of season 4 could determine the future of the show, according to some fans – we’ve already seen some networks approaching certain troubled productions in this way. It looks like plenty of people are going to tune in for the next season though, so we don’t see any reason for the show to fall off the screen based on this alone.
