‘Scandal’ Season 6 Reported to be a Bloodbath Season as Olivia Pope Will Stand Up Against Cyrus Beene

Although it is six episodes less than the usual episode order, Season 6 of the American political thriller drama TV series “Scandal” on ABC promises to be a humdinger and would surely ensure that viewers would be captivated by its plotline.

There are reports going around saying that the upcoming sixth season of “Scandal” will be a bloodbath season as Olivia Pope, played by Kerry Washington, will finally stand up against Cyrus Beene, played by Jeff Perry, reports Headlines & Global News.

There are also rumors saying that Scott Foley might no longer be reprising his role of Jake Ballard in the upcoming Season 6 of the very popular show which seems unlikely since the TV series involves the US election where Jake is a vice presidential candidate.

Accordingly, the sixth season of “Scandal” will open on the US Election Day and the Americans will be making a choice for their next leader. The choice is only between Mellie Grant, played by Bellamy Young, as the Republican nominee, and Frankie Vargas, played by Ricardo Chavira, as the Democrats bet.

As for the vice presidency, the toss-up would be between Jake Ballard, played by Scott Foley, and Cyrus Beene.

Olivia Pope is supporting the candidacy of Mellie and they are both scared of Cyrus’s candidacy because he knows a lot about Mellie in particular. They are also aware what kind of monster Cyrus is, who is very capable of doing a lot of bad things.

Of greatest concern is the fact that Cyrus knows about Mellie’s haunting past and it is what is giving the presidential aspirant some sleepless nights.

But Olivia will not be intimidated by Cyrus and she is reportedly working on her own plan to defeat Cyrus in his own game. There are reports saying that Mellie will agree to Olvia’s gameplan to bring down Cyrus for good.

Impressive viewership

After the Season 5 finale of “Scandal” aired on May 12, 2016, there were skepticisms that went around saying that the show might not be renewed by ABC for a sixth season.

But when the ratings started coming out showing that the Season 5 finale of “Scandal” generated 6.5 million viewers, it was clear that a Season 6 was already forthcoming, reports Game & Guide.

“Scandal” Season 5 got ratings of 7.9 to a high of 10 based on 51,400 user votes, 156 viewer reviews, and 48 critic reviews. There have also been reports saying that “Scandal” Season 5 has an approval rating of 92% as shown from 12 critic reviews.

While the success of the series in the last season opens up an opportunity for the renewal of the series in mid-season of 2017, the success of “Scandal” Season 6 is yet to be seen.

The cancellation rumors were only meant to pressure ABC into renewing the show and the network does not need further convincing as it was already certain that it would give the show a sixth season.

Agreed on a delayed airing date

However, since Kerry Washington got pregnant with her second child, the network and the producers also agree on a compromise to have a delayed airing of Season 6 from its usual fall schedule to early next year.

The decision to cut the number of episodes in Season 6 has something to do with the condition of the actress. After all, a “Scandal” episode without Olivia Pope in it seems unrealistic.

Incidentally, when the US president says that something is good, most Americans would surely agree with his assessment. The producers and showrunner of “Scandal” on ABC seems intent on hyping the upcoming Season 6 of the show as such when it was President Fitzgerald Grant, played by actor Tony Goldwyn, who revealed it to be one.
