‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Rumored Feature Character is the Iconic Villain Kingpin to Bridge the Character’s TV and Film Universe

Filming for “Spider-Man: Homecoming” has already wrapped up and most of the rumors going around these days about the upcoming movie are centered on the supposedly huge appearance of another Marvel character in the film.

It could no longer be Tony Stark and Iron Man as Robert Downey Jr. has long been confirmed to play his part in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and his relationship with Peter Parker has already been established in “Captain America: Civil War.”

With the appearance of Tony Stark also comes the appearance of Happy Hogan, to be played by Jon Favreau, and they will be joining the Stark Expo at the high school in Queens where Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, is studying.

There has been a report of late saying that there will be a surprise appearance from a character that is central to the Spider-Man mythos, one who will play a larger role in the upcoming films, notes Melty.

The site cautioned however that such could just be a rumor so it should be taken with a fine grain of salt.

Triggering more speculations

But the report about the cameo of the Marvel character in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” was enough to trigger speculations that it could be Norman Osborne’s Green Goblin.

However, Marvel Studios may not want to go into the same territory which was the undoing of the first trilogy of the character while it was still under Sony Pictures, featuring actor Tobey Maguire in the lead role.

It could be recalled that the Green Goblin was the villain in the first movie and also in the third film. He was again used in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” that starred Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Spider-Man.

Given how the character has been used time and again by Sony in the Spider-Man mythos, it is unlikely for Marvel Studios to follow the same path.

As it is, The Vulture, played by Michael Keaton and the Tinkerer will be the main villains in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” but there are also speculations that the film could also include the possible appearances of Mad Titan Thanos, Venom, or even the Green Goblin.

However, the more analytical of the critics think that it is going to be Kingpin because the character’s star just turned up in “Daredevil” the TV series recently. Kingpin is an iconic villain of Spider-Man in the comics and his appearance in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” would help further bridge the character’s TV and film universes.

There are also speculations saying that it could also be Uncle Ben, the husband of Aunt May. But the character actually does not have a very large role in the Spider-Man mythos.

Done filming

Incidentally, Tom Holland was spotted arriving at the JFK Airport in New York City on October 14 after completing filming for “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” reports Just Jared.

He was spotted filming a rooftop scene in the Marvel movie while wearing his full Spider-Man costume and he also made sure to snap a selfie with his great overlooking view.

Holland posted the image on his Instagram and captioned it with ‘done’ to indicate that he is through with his work for his first starring role.

Speaking of Tom Holland, the 20-year-old actor may be just taking baby steps in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the new Peter Parker and Spider-Man in the upcoming reboot of the franchise, officially titled “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” but he had a blast filming and enjoying all the actions on the set.

In August, he shared a video on his Instagram account from the set of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” where he demonstrated his impressive acrobatic abilities based on the instruction of the movie’s stunt coordinator.

After the stunt coordinator showed him how to do it using a trampoline, Tom Holland subsequently performed an impressive jumping flip stunt that got the stunt coordinator to say to the camera men to film it for the next take.

Incidentally, a Reddit user also posted some of the set images of Tom Holland suited up as Spider-Man and it looks like it is the new costume for the superhero character, because it was not the same that was seen in “Captain America: Civil War.”
