Android Lollipop Released For HTC Desire 610!

HTC always has a couple of smartphones on the list for upgrades when it comes to the software that powers them. Now that Android is supposed to be bumped up to version 5.0, it looks like HTC has at least one older phone that is going to be in line for the update. The new version of the Android software has started to roll out for Nexus and Motorola devices this passed week and mobile users are taking to the “Settings” area of the phone to see if they are lucky enough to be getting it.

Most of the phones that are getting the Android 5.0 update will be seeing the update notification within the first couple of weeks that it has launched. This includes the Moto X, Moto G, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and any Google Play version of high end smartphones. The older devices that make the cut are usually ones that can handle the software upgrade. Many time older phones lack the amount of space needed, as well as the processor and RAM combination needed to run it.

According to one online source, the Desire 610 will be getting the Android 5.0 upgrade. The question that consumers that own the device want to know is when will it be ready for download. The problem is that you cannot predict an exact timeline because the Nexus and Moto devices are the first on the list per an announcement from Google a few years ago. Then the Google Play Edition’s will be next in line, so if you have the Desire 610, you might be waiting at least one month.

Other phones that are expected to get the Android 5.0 upgrade include the Galaxy line from Samsung, but one source claimed the update was pushed back to April of next year. That is long enough to wait, especially when you are talking about a newer device that is considered one of the best overall on the market. Consumers with smartphones have also been around for the times when companies claim they are going to be getting the software out to an older phone only to change their mind a month later.

When the Motorola Droid series first hit the market, the smartphones were some of the best that you could buy. When it came to upgrading the operating system, some of the models waited months only to be turned down due to hardware issues and compatibility. HTC is doing a good job of keeping consumers aware, however, with a website that lists all of the handsets that are not discontinued, what operating system they are getting and when users can expect it.
