“Persona 5” is finally out after a lot of hype, and it looks like the huge efforts of the developers are paying off very nicely. The game not only managed to sell well, it actually broke the records of developer Atlus in Japan, becoming their best-selling game in the country in a very short timespan.
The game is enjoying a very strong overall reception among gamers, with many praising the clear advances in the quality of development that the franchise has gone through. “Persona” has always been known for a highly polished style, but the fifth game pushes this trend even further, according to gamers and critics alike.
Everything from the small details to more major features of the game just clicks together nicely, and it all works very smoothly. The menus and UI in general are very beautiful and vibrant, and they look fresh for 2016 standards. There is a peculiar trend in the Japanese market for game developers to create games that look a bit odd in their menus, but Atlus have broken through that stereotype once again.
The actual gameplay of “Persona 5” is smooth and polished all throughout, according to most, and the game has a lot to offer. It’s a good title for both gamers who haven’t seen the franchise before, as well as those who’ve been following it since the beginning and have been patiently waiting during the development of “Persona 5”.
It wasn’t a small wait either, but thankfully it looks like it was definitely worth the patience. The wait isn’t actually over for some gamers across the world, sadly, as the game is yet to see its international release.
The reason for that is, as usual, localization. This part of the development process is notorious for taking a lot of time and fracturing the release process of many games. But it’s better that at least some fans of the series have a chance to see what “Persona 5” has to offer, instead of keeping the game away from everyone for a few more months for no reason.
That way, Western fans of the series will have a chance to hear reviews and impressions from their fellow gamers in Japan before they’ve gotten their own hands on the game, so they will know exactly what they’re in for later on.
So far though, it looks like many Western fans of the “Persona” series are disappointed with not having access to the game, as they’re forced to read the great responses of those who’ve been able to play it. At least the game has a set release date for Western countries, and even though it’s not exactly right around the corner, it’s not that far away either.
The Western release should happen on February 14, 2017, but we don’t know if Atlus are planning anything symbolic for the special date. It’s possible that they will run a thematic promotion, knowing the studio’s past stunts, and this would be completely in the style of the game as well.
Some gamers have been a bit worried about the localization of the Western version of the game, as there have been some minor issues with that aspect in the past of the franchise. More specifically, having the main antagonist voiced by the same actor as one of the main characters can create some obvious problems when it breaks some important plot twists that the developers have obviously been preparing quite carefully.
