The developers of “Clash Royale” are moving forward with their major updates to the game, and they’ve recently released another new unit, the Inferno Dragon. A new Legendary card, this unit combines the core features of the Baby Dragon and Inferno Tower, offering good value for 4 elixir.
And now that players have had a chance to play with the new unit and experiment with different strategies for it, it looks like it might need a bit of a buff in order to survive in the current meta.
Some players were afraid that the Inferno Dragon would be too powerful against certain types of units, especially on defense, but the opposite seems to be true. The problem with the unit is that it moves too slowly to do anything useful, and combined with its slow retargeting, it takes a while for the Dragon to actually do some damage.
Players seem to be successfully using it as a defensive card right now, but it would be interesting to see if a new meta develops around using it in an offensive push. Theoretically, the unit has a lot of potential to deal heavy damage to Crown Towers, and it could be one of the heaviest hitters if utilized properly.
Meanwhile, there has been a lot of confusion over the newly introduced Legendary and Epic chests, with some players wondering how they are being distributed and if they’re in the “guaranteed drops” cycle. Recent reports allegedly coming from Supercell themselves have confirmed that the standard cycle does contain the chests, although it’s not clear if they’re both given within one cycle, or one each in consecutive cycles.
There have been multiple threads on forums related to the game with players claiming that they’ve received an Epic chest right after a Legendary one, and it looks like the two could be placed right after each other in the official rotation.
That would make sense, as Supercell claimed that they wanted to make it easier for players to obtain Legendary cards without having to spend any money, and so far this seems to be working out quite well in this regard.
It’s actually getting hard to find replays of games that don’t feature at least one Legendary in each deck, and many players have started to build decks that contain two or more such cards. The community is split on the situation – while some are happy, others claim that this is taking away from the core concepts of the gameplay.
It does look like “Clash Royale” is more interesting to play and watch in this situation though, as Legendary cards have a much more profound impact on the battles they’re used in, making for more exciting replays. It will be interesting to see how things change in the future once more cards are added to the mix, but many players are confident that this is the right way for the developers to go.
There are two more cards to be released until the end of this month, the next one being the Ice Golem. The unit will share some mechanics with the currently existing Golem, but it will deal far less damage and will be more versatile due to its low cost. Some players are skeptical about the card’s potential for usefulness, while others seem very excited to see it added to the game.
