Bethesda Blames Sony Regarding Fallout 4 Mods Not Launching On PS4, What Issues Were Fixed By The Latest Update? Let’s See

Sony recently informed that they would not approve user mods in the way which they should work. It is the reason why Fallout 4 mods haven’t been released on the PS4, and according to the developer, it is Sony’s fault.

Sony will not allow mods where the user can do anything they want, like in Skyrim or Fallout 4. On its official blog, Bethesda declared that like their fans, they are very disappointed by this decision, especially considering the amount of time and effort they had put in the project.

On top of that, Fallout 4 fans have been waiting for a long time to experience such mods on their console. Sony can rely on one of the very few technical limits regarding mod storage. That may very well be the sticking point that Sony refuses to budge on.

However, statements made by Bethesda leaves room for Sony to change its views and allow the same console mod-support that is being enjoyed by Xbox One fans at the moment. It’s been more than three months that Fallout 4 players on Xbox One can load and play most of the mods released for the game.

It is quite rare to see a successful initiative like this on a console and gamers are overjoyed. Sadly, the gamers on PlayStation 4 are still waiting their turn and it’s mainly because of technical issues and problems faced by Sony.

The modding on PS4 for Fallout 4 was initially intended for some time in June, after the release of Xbox One mod support back in late May. However, by the middle of June, Bethesda admitted that they were running into some issues with performance and memory on the consoles.

There were struggles with the proprietary sound file format on the PS4 followed by a ridiculous mod-storage limit of 900MB, imposed by Sony. Compared to that, Xbox One allows a full 2GB storage.

However, in spite of all that, reports indicated that a closed beta for modding in PS4 was almost ready at that time. Sadly, the beta was indefinitely delayed by Bethesda at the end of June. By early August, Bethesda simply mentioned that it was working with Sony regarding the issues faced by Fallout 4 and furthermore, the process of adding mods on PS4 was still under consideration.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines told UK’s Metro newspaper that the feature is yet to be abandoned, in spite of delay and major radio silence from the company. He further declared that”It’s not that we’ve decided not to do it; we absolutely, positively want to get PS4 mods out as fast as humanly possible.”

Hines was given the opportunity, but he refused to directly point the finger at Sony for the continued delays. He simply kept repeating that the feature is going through an evaluation process.

However, he had earlier declared that external forces were preventing him from bringing out the full story behind the waiting time. He tweeted in July that Bethesda was in fact, waiting for an update that could be shared with their fans on Twitter.
