‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Likely to Feature the Appearances of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark in Bran Stark’s Vision

During the Season 6 finale of the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones,” it was already revealed, though indirectly, that the parents of Jon Snow are Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, thus confirming previous hints about R+L=J.

It is no longer possible to show the two characters in the present since they are already both dead. Lyanna Stark died after giving birth to Jon Snow in the Tower of Dorne but she managed to entrust the care of her secret and her son to his brother, Ned Stark.

Based on “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novel series where “Game of Thrones” is based on, Rhaegar is the eldest son of the Mad King Aerys II and Rhaella Targaryen. He was married to Elia Martell but had an affair with Lyanna Stark, resulting in the birth of their love child, Jon Snow, details Time.

During the rebellion against the Mad King, Robert Baratheon killed Rhaegar for allegedly kidnapping Lyanna, whom he considers as the love of his life.

Speculations are now rife that in order to clarify to fans the events leading to the birth of Jon Snow, the backstory of the love affair of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark through the visions of Bran Stark will be highlighted in the upcoming seventh season of “Game of Thrones.”

It has been speculated that singer Devin Oliver might take on the role of Rhaegar in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones.”

But the singer took to Instagram recently and said that he may or may not have an appearance in the upcoming seventh season of “Game of Thrones.”

Pre-production for Season 7 filming now on swing

It has been already confirmed that a good part of Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” will be filmed in and around the city of Seville in Spain, particularly at the Royal Shipyards, at the Ruins of Italica in the town of Santiponce, and possibly at the Alcazar de Seville, the Moorish palace that stood in for the Water Gardens of Dorne in Season 5, details the Winter is Coming.

Filming was scheduled previously from November 1 to 14 but the production has decided to move it from mid-November to mid-December to make the landscape become a bit greener.

The production team plans only to spend one month at the most in the area, which was exactly the amount of time they spent in filming the Battle of the Bastards during episode 9 of Season 6.

Reports also have it that the filming has made calls for 500 extras and 100 horses, which many critics believe will be playing as Unsullied soldiers and the Dothraki army, all under Daenerys’ flock.

However, instead of a battle, the scene could be one of an ambush according to reports because the characters will be passing through Las Brenas riding in wagons and litters. The vehicles shall be filled with goods gathered at a nearby castle so it is not clear whether it would be the Lannisters army who would be doing the ambush or it would be Daenerys’ men ambushing the Lannister’s army.

Sources in the production of “Game of Thrones” also said that there will be a very interesting scene where a character will fall into the water and need to be rescued and that a dragon shall be involved in the scene.

Thus, the speculations were rife in saying that Daenerys would fall off Drogon and into the water but it would be interesting how the Mother of Dragons would be knocked off her lofty perch.

It has also been said that Tyrion Lannister might have a scene in the same setting and that he might be in conflict with one of his siblings, which is Jamie most likely.

However, all these remain as speculations pending the confirmation from the showrunners who are unlikely to do so. Thus, it would be better for fans and viewers to just wait it out until Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” premieres on HBO either late in June or in July next year.

The return of Gendry

Meanwhile, the last time that Gendry, Robert Baratheon’s bastard son, was seen on “Game of Thrones” was during Season 4 when he was about to be sacrificed by the Red priestess Melisandre to the Lord of Light to help Robert’s brother Stannis, wrests the iron throne from Tommen Baratheon.
