‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 6 Return of Robin Hood Could Help Regina Fight Her Evil Side!

The sixth season of the American fairy tale drama TV series “Once Upon a Time” rolled off to a blazing start on ABC on September 25 as the show sets the stage for the arrival of many characters from the Land of the Untold Stories.

However, what seems to have drawn the fancy and excitement of most fans towards the end of the premiere episode is the likely return to the TV series of Robin Hood, played by Sean Maguire.

It could be recalled that Robin Hood died protecting Regina, played by Lana Parilla, from Hades, played by Greg Germann, during the Season 5 finale.

The Lord of the Underworld used the Olympian Crystal, which supposedly crushes someone’s existence. Hades told Regina that Robin Hood’s soul would never be able to find a pass onto the other side, details the International Business Times.

Season 6 of “Once Upon a Time” picked up from that particular plotline and the premiere episode saw Regina struggling to deal with the loss of Robin Hood, her perceived one true love.

It was Henry, played by Jared S. Gilmore, who told her not to trust the statement made to her by Hades regarding Robin.

But Regina got upset with her sister Zelena, played by Rebecca Maders, after she lost the feather of Robin that she entrusted to her. Regina also blamed Zelena for Robin’s death prompting her sister to leave the house with her baby.

There was an interesting twist though towards the end of the premiere episode of Season 6 of “Once Upon a Time.” After Snow, played by Ginnifer Goodwin, encouraged Regina to move on, a feather which seems to be from Robin, appeared out of the air, indicating that Robin Hood would be back.

Confirming his return

It was actually the executive producers who confirmed the return of Sean Maguire to Season 6 of “Once Upon a Time.”

Showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis said in a recent interview that they are thrilled to have Sean Maguire back for a multi-episode arc and are excited for the audience to see what they have planned, especially in the midst of the heartbreaking demise of the actor’s character in Season 5.

However, it is possible that Maguire would return not as Robin but a new character which both Horowitz and Kitsis no longer elaborate upon.

Kitsis was even quoted as saying that dead is dead when asked about the possible resurrection of Robin Hood.

The co-showrunner said that a lot of Season 6 of “Once Upon a Time” is about Regina dealing with the loss and moving on because she seems to have the most unfair luck among all the cast of characters, notes TV Line.

Horowitz also added that Robin Hood was someone Regina did love and lose as well so the show would feature her dealing with that grief and its aftermath in a real way.

Focusing on untold stories

Just before its premiere on September 25, ABC has released the latest trailer of the American fairy tale drama TV series “Once Upon a Time” Season 6 entitled as ‘Untold Stories.”

Apparently, the TV series would also be focusing on the untold stories of Aladdin and Jasmine from the Arabian Nights lore in a whole new world, which is a reference to the song “A Whole New World” in the Disney animated movie “Aladdin.”

Aladdin shall be played by Deniz Akdeniz while Jasmine shall be played by Karen David in the sixth season of “Once Upon a Time.”

The pair would be joining other characters from other stories of yore including Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Count of Monte Cristo, and a whole lot more.
