Motorola has taken a cheeky route for their Moto 360 advertisement, ahead of the Holiday Season. The company has recently launched a marketing campaign for their latest smartwatch, which was introduced in the market back in September this year. The parody here is in their tagline, “A Watch for our Times.”
Motorola hopes to get their device into the limelight and focus on the Moto 360 as a complete smartwatch for every occasion with the latest campaign. Motorola hopes to make the best use of the situation – lack of proper devices in the market at the moment – and sell as many devices as they can before Apple releases the iWatch next year.
Motorola also hopes to flaunt their new partnership with Lenovo after a brief encounter with Google, which split in October this year. Both Lenovo and Motorola confirmed that the operations and agenda of the firms would be kept independent, meaning that the collaboration is only in terms of a brand name.
A sumptuous voice announces “Craftsmanship” as the camera slowly rotates to highlight the well-dressed model. “Style. Burritos.” The voice continues as the model receives a notification on the Moto 360 that his food is ready. Another frame, “Chad” features a pianist whose play is interrupted by a bawdy text message! An ingenious way to sell a product, we must say!
The Motorola Moto 360 is priced at $249, and $299 and the company wants to follow a playful sales strategy that is bound to attract the attention of one and all. The model in the campaign refers to the age-old customs of watch making, and the Moto 360 is a playful new competition that dares to challenge those age old strategies.
The campaign consists of six small videos compiled into a single piece, and Motorola has reserved 15 second spots for them to run on Instagram. Motorola’s agency of recording, Droga5 is the creative force behind the campaign. The company is working hard to ensure that their campaign is not met with any technical glitches like the incident in October, which left many local users disgruntled.
The Motorola Moto 360 is one of the first devices to run on Android Wear, Google’s wearable OS, which is designed to support numerous on-the-go features and applications. An extensive user review is yet to be conducted, but we are certain that the device will manage to stand out on its terms. The Moto 360 holds an edge over competitors such as Samsung and LG, although, whether it manages to outperform the Apple iWatch is anybody’s guess!
