Season 5 of the American Western crime drama TV series “Longmire” was streamed on Netflix on September 23 and less than a week later, most of its fans have streamed the full season of 10 episodes.
Just like the Season 4 finale, the final episode of Season 5 ended in a cliffhanger in what appears to be the life of Walt Longmire, played by Robert Taylor, in great danger because someone was cooking up a plot to kill him, details the Parent Herald.
It also becomes clear during the Season 5 of “Longmire” that Walt and his deputy, Vic Moriarty, played by Katee Sackhoff, are starting to be drawn to each other because they can no longer hide their respective feelings.
However, they are both skeptical to make a go of it because of various reasons aside from situational conflicts.
The just concluded Season 5 also saw Dr. Donna Sue Monaghan, played by Ally Walker, making a graceful exit on “Longmire,” which critics believe as a good move because it still opens up the possibility that she might return.
Another thing that was highly commended was the mystery of Donna’s kidnapping which was tastefully and remarkably done even though viewers were led to think initially that Walt was to blame. But the final episode eventually cleared Walt about it, details Movie News Guide.
Season 6 is almost good as go
With the way the showrunners set up the storylines of the Season 5 finale of “Longmire,” it seems imminent that they are confident that Netflix would renew the show for a sixth season.
Critics believe that with the way the cliffhangers were meticulously incorporated in the Season 5 finale, it would be foolish of Netflix not to renew the show for another season.
More importantly, the fact that Season 5 of “Longmire” actually brought huge subscribers to Netflix only means that the streaming service would like nothing but to sustain the good run of the TV series.
In fact, it was the very same reason why Netflix picked up “Longmire” from A&E after the latter canceled it at the end of Season 3 despite doing very well in its ratings.
Netflix has yet to confirm if indeed Season 5 of “Longmire” did bring a good subscriber base to the streaming service or whether it outperformed the Season 4 figures. Regardless whether the fifth season of the show matched or surpassed the ratings and subscriber number during the TV series’ fourth season, it is good news for Netflix and also for “Longmire.”
Not going the way of ‘Bloodline’
There are reports coming out as of late that Netflix has decided to stop streaming “Bloodline” after it airs its Season 3 sometime next year.
According to reports, the producers of “Bloodline,” Sony Pictures Television has received word from Netflix that the streaming service would no longer renew the family drama after Season 3. That’s in addition to the fact that from a total of 13 episodes, the forthcoming third season of “Bloodline” shall only have 10 episodes.
It would be a groundbreaking decision by Netflix since “Bloodline” is an original series and not picked up by the streaming service from another network.
With the sad development for “Bloodline,” there were rumors that went around saying that “Longmire” might also suffer the same fate and shall no longer have a Season 6.
However, unlike the “Bloodline” reports which have been confirmed by Netflix, the speculations on “Longmire” are merely rumors at this time.
If it’s any assurance to “Longmire,” Season 5 really had all-new and exciting episodes and it even capped off with a very intense finale.
The season focused on the emotional journey of Walt Longmire while he is battling with the villainous characters of Season 5.
