‘Watch Dogs 2’ Offers a More Enjoyable Experience than its Predecessor Since Gamers Have Hacking Devices at their Disposal, Reviewer Says

Ubisoft Montreal will be officially releasing the open world action-adventure third-person shooter video game, “Watch Dogs 2,” on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PC on November 15.

It features a single-player campaign and a multiplayer mode just like its predecessor but “Watch Dogs 2” has undergone a much-needed injection of personality.

From the outset, it is clear that the Canadian game developer has made a big effort to craft a more vibrant, exciting sequel to what was previously regarded as a boring and disappointing game, notes Trusted Reviews.

“Watch Dogs 2” now features more entertaining and light-hearted characters, a splash of color, and a sense of being in a technology-ridden playground, all controllable from one’s mobile device.

As basically a game for hackers, once gamers get to realize the importance of hacking devices available at their disposal, “Watch Dogs 2” appears to be a major improvement over its predecessor. It becomes a more enjoyable experience when gamers feel like they have the right ‘toys’ at their disposal.

A fun approach to playing

One other thing that is expected to be appreciated by gamers about “Watch Dogs 2” is its fun, albeit comedic, approach to gaming.

While it carries the attitude of the first game at heart, it is done without the dull and gray coating of its predecessor.

The game also offers gamers more tools. Apart from being able to distract people with prank calls, they can actually call the cops for a more elaborating distraction. Or they can also call a gang hit on the hackers if they wanted to be sinister about it.

The game’s protagonist, Marcus, is also a true millennial. He can insult, pacify, flirt, and even dance with anybody on the streets and can also react positively or negatively.

But the combat in “Watch Dogs 2” lacks the finesse that other Ubisoft shooter video games have, including the recently released “Tom Clancy’s The Division.”

Marcus is also cumbersome and clumsily fumbles his way from cover to cover. It’s not great for all-out action when the odds are stacked against the gamer, and can feel frustrating.

Redeeming the first game

“Watch Dogs 2” is actually an attempt at redemption by Ubisoft Montreal for the first game that had many gamers disappointed.

The changes about to be seen on “Watch Dogs 2” directly address many of the shortcomings that plagued “Watch Dogs.”

Danny Belanger, “Watch Dogs 2” Director, explained that the major change to the game is its lighter tone and setting, which is a welcome change from “Watch Dogs,” details Gamespot.

Belanger said that they also saw a similar shift that occurred in “Assassin’s Creed 2” from the first “Assassin’s Creed” game, which also generated favorable reviews and feedbacks from gamers.

The game director said that he is not sure if it is a formula but for them in game development, it was really important to give something new and fresh to gamers. He explained that there were a lot of things that stem from the choices that they have made.

Another interesting facet about “Watch Dogs 2” is the new features that will make its multiplayer mode quite interesting.

The updated multiplayer mode and the new bounty scenarios that were introduced in the game shall enable players to help the cops track down a hunted player in exchange for rewards.

But if the hunted player manages to evade capture for a certain period of time, he will receive rewards of his own.

It was during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 held at Los Angeles, California in June, when Ubisoft Montreal formally announced the release date of the game.

In the trailer that was released for “Watch Dogs 2,” game protagonist Marcus was seen enjoying a leisurely stroll through San Francisco but is occasionally interrupted by various opportunities to hack the system.
