“Titanfall” has been pretty inactive lately, but fans haven’t lost hope – with a sequel on the horizon, and various positive rumors left and right, it looks like the developers are trying their hard to make the sequel even better than the original, and fix some of their mistakes. The game was quite good when it came out, but it still had a few quirks to work out, and it looks like we’re going to see all of that addressed now.
According to the developers themselves, they’ve been listening to player feedback quite a lot, and many of their decisions in the development of the new game have been based on that. For example, Attrition mode is coming back, after many players were worried that it might be removed from the sequel.
This was at least implied in an interview with members of the development team, and while they didn’t immediately confirm that the mode was coming back, this was already revealed in a separate announcement. On the other hand, they’ve also been looking into implementing some changes to the balance that players have been calling for since the first game.
There does seem to be some controversy in the community though, and it looks like the developers will have to tread very carefully with the new changes they’re introducing. For example, the lack of uniqueness around Titans in the new game has been a concern for some, and many players are apparently displeased with the idea of turning them into a “Call of Duty”-style killstreak.
On the other hand, players have been split over the presence of AI in the game, but it seems like many would like for the computer-controlled opponents to come back. They apparently added a lot to the levels, making them seem more lively and interesting, while also spicing up gameplay significantly.
We don’t know what kind of direction the developers are pursuing with the new version, but no matter if they’re trying to make the gameplay faster or slower, these can both be done with the inclusion of AI-controlled opponents preserved.
It will all become clear in about a month when the game is released, but before that, we expect to see some more explanations by the developers regarding some of their decisions for the game. Many players have been calling for a more detailed overview of some of the new additions, especially when it comes to the balance between Pilots and Titans, so hopefully we’re going to see something like that in the next weeks.
The release of the game is scheduled for an interesting time, as that’s when the new “Call of Duty” is coming out as well. The two games will compete head to head, and it will be interesting to see which one players prefer, as the “Call of Duty” franchise has taken a lot of inspiration from the first “Titanfall” lately. Things like the advanced movement possibilities and extra pace of the game were obviously inspired by “Titanfall”, but that’s of course not a bad thing in any way.
But now, the two games will look more similar than when “Titanfall” originally came out, and it will be an interesting competition. Players might find themselves quite split between the two, especially fans of “Call of Duty” who have been feeling displeased with the way the game has been evolving lately.
