Call of Duty 3 Added to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility List, Does the Game Still Offer Good Value? Let’s See

With all the advancements the “Call of Duty” franchise has seen over the years, many people have forgotten about the original first few games in the series, the ones that started it all. While “Call of Duty 3” might not be everyone’s favorite installment – far from it, in fact – it’s still refreshing to see it available for modern platforms like the Xbox One.

The game has been enjoying a lot of interest since it was added to the list too, and it looks like many players would gladly revisit the experience just for nostalgia’s sake. Whether or not they will stick around is questionable, as the game had some flaws which were never addressed.

There are various interesting aspects to it which some players may have already forgotten, such as the fact that it was the last step before the franchise moved on towards its modern military setting. “Call of Duty 3” still had a World War theme, and some remember it fondly for this reason.

And while its gameplay had some flaws, many players praised the game for other aspects, such as its great optimization and high level of polish. It was back then that Activision showed that they have every intention to push this franchise forward as much as possible, and that included adding several layers of great polish to their games.

This trend only became even more pronounced by the time “Call of Duty 4” came around, but many would argue that it was “Call of Duty 3” and not its predecessor which actually started it. Of course, looking at things through the rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia must have an effect as well, but critics seem to remember the game in a similar light from those times.

Will other games from the franchise also be ported to the Xbox One through the backwards compatibility program? There have been lots of requests for this from the community, and in fact, the “Call of Duty” franchise is one of the most actively requested ones since the program was originally started.

Activision haven’t announced their complete plans for the backwards porting, but it does seem like they are trying to get as many of the popular entries in the series available on the new console as possible. We should also keep in mind that this could interfere with their own plans though, so the studio will probably be a bit more careful with how they launch these titles.

That is, since they’re currently working on new “Call of Duty” games themselves, it might not make much sense to compete with their own titles by flooding the market with ports of the originals. Because of this, we expect the studio to take it easy and release these games in a controlled manner, taking things slowly and analyzing the market carefully before making their next move.

They’re also about to release a remastered version of “Call of Duty 4” soon, and that’s another factor to consider for their presence on the market.

However, that remaster is actually a bit of a different story, as it will require the purchase of the new “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” to be obtained, while it’s also not a simple port of the old game to the new hardware. Rather, it’s a complete remake that makes use of modern rendering capabilities, and presents the game in a new light.
