Filming for the fifth installment of the pirate film franchise “Pirates of the Caribbean” has already been completed a few months ago but rumors about some tension between lead actor Johnny Depp, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow in the movie, and Disney persist online.
There are even speculations saying that Johnny Depp is also feuding with co-actor Orlando Bloom, who plays Will Turner in the movie officially titled “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
Based on the rumors, it seems that Johnny Depp is said to be getting affected by his divorce proceedings with erstwhile wife Amber Heard.
However, it seems unlikely for Johnny Depp to have some kind of tension with Disney Pictures or with Orlando Bloom as the movie has already completed filming weeks after the rumors started coming out.
Critics believe that the speculations are just being fanned in order to spark interest in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” which is slated to hit theaters on May 26, 2017.
Personal crisis
There are reports saying that Johnny Depp is having some kind of financial difficulty as a result of his costly divorce settlement with Amber Heard, which accordingly amounts to $7 million, reports the Parent Herald.
But those who know Johnny Depp and his net worth these days think the amount is paltry and believe that the reason why he is disposing of some asset is because he just doesn’t need them anymore and also to be able to get rid of things that are associated with his ex-wife.
Back in July, the 52-year-old actor sold his French estate for $55 million, which has been up for sale long before he and Amber Heard decided to break up.
Depp is said to be selling his collection of penthouses atop the Eastern Columbia building for $12.78 million and is reported to be putting more properties on the selling block.
Critics think that Johnny Depp is one of the more stable and well off actors in Hollywood so his divorce settlement with Amber Heard would be a breeze to his financial state.
In fact, there are also speculations saying that the reason why Amber Heard filed for divorce is because she wanted to get a piece of the wealth of the versatile actor. But then it is up to the court to decide how much Depp should equitably give to Heard for their divorce.
Killing off Depp’s character in the franchise?
As a result of the rumored tension between Johnny Depp and Disney, there are speculations saying that the production company might finally kill off the actor’s character in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” so that they would no longer encounter a problem with him in the possible sequel or spin-off movies.
However, filming for the movie is already over before the rumors started flying around so it is possible that it is just one of those things that are meant to hype or promote the film rather than be considered as a cold-blooded truth.
Critics also think that it would be extremely difficult for Disney to kill off Captain Jack Sparrow in a “Pirates of the Caribbean” film because he is the face of the franchise.
He has been the icon of the movie series and without him, it would not feel like a “Pirates of the Caribbean” film at all, notes Movie News Guide.
The rumors about Johnny Depp being a problem in the set last year also came out recently and it was apparently because of his problems with his wife then. The actor has never been a problem in the first four “Pirates of the Caribbean” films in the past.
With his problem out of the way, Johnny Depp is as good as new and will be more than ready to do another sequel or a spin-off for the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
While it sounded absurd, it no longer came as a surprise when reports recently came out that Orlando Bloom shall become the new lead star of the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film vice Johnny Depp.
MY PRECIOUS JOHNNY DEPP SHOULD REMAIN A CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW, AS HE’S ORE CHARISMATIC THAN ORLANDO BLOOM, T JUST WOULD WORK WITH HIM AS LEAD ROLE, TOO WOODEN.
