Martin is unable to meet the deadlines to complete Winds of Winter. The fans of the series have been waiting for over five years for the sixth novel. Martin has promised the fans that he will complete Winds of Winter soon, but the wait refuses to end.
The noted author informed that he would work on the next two seasons of HBO while working on the novels. This news wasn’t well accepted since the fans know he will not be able to focus on writing and would further delay the process of completing Winds of Winter.
Martin might not have finished Winds of Winter yet, but he is teeming with ideas to work on the prequel to the novel and television series. He revealed during a conversation with Deadline that he has thousands of pages about incidents that led to the plotline for Game of Thrones.
This news has alarmed the fans. Martin claims that he hasn’t been able to focus on writing down the pages of Winds of Winter, whereas he reportedly has thousands of pages for the prequel to Game of Thrones ready.
Martin had promised he would skip the Comic-Cons, and he has been doing so, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t making public appearances. He attends award ceremonies and makes appearances for Game of Thrones related activities.
The fans are running out of patience. Martin confessed that he isn’t able to work on Winds of Winter when he travels since he needs his personal writing desk to get the flow. To increase the pace of writing, he had decided not to travel frequently. However, fans don’t think he was able to follow his words.
George R. R. Martin is 68 years of age and fans are scared that he might not be able to complete the series due to old age. There is another book after Winds of Winter, called A Dream of Spring.
Martin took an average of two to five years to complete the previous novels in the series. He has been writing Winds of Winter for over five years now. At this rate, the seventh book would come after another five to six years, when Martin will be nearing 80 years.

Amazon France had published a date under Winds of Winter on their website. This information excited the fans since they presumed it was the publishing date. However, Amazon France clarified that the date was only a placeholder. Random House, Martin’s US publisher, reported that the publication dates circulating in the social media are false.
Martin and his publishers have assured fans that the official date of Winds of Winter will be announced officially once the book is ready.
