‘Switched at Birth’ Season 5 Rumored Main Character Death Could Take Viewers in a Roller Coaster of Emotions

Season 5 of the American teen family drama “Switched at Birth” will be airing on Freeform on January 24, 2017, and speculations are already swirling on what the premiere episode would be since the Season 4 finale ended on a major cliffhanger.

There were speculations after the Season 4 cliffhanger as to the reasons why Daphne Vasquez, played by Katie Leclerc, and Bay Kennish, played by Vanessa Marano, were called upon while in China and asked to return to Kansas.

First, there were reports saying that they needed to come home because John Kennish, played by D.W. Moffett, is sick and is about to die.

Subsequently, there were reports saying that John and Kathryn Kennish, played by Lea Thompson, are already divorcing which is the reason why the two girls needed to come home to possibly save the marriage of the couple.

The title of the premiere episode of Season 5 is “The Call,” which only reinforced speculations of the possible decision of John and Kathryn to sever their marital ties for good.

Back in Season 4, John learned of his terminal illness, and with the looming divorce between him and Kathryn, the stress is certainly over the roof.

In the event that the showrunner and writers proceed with the direction of John’s possible death, it will set the stage of “Switched at Birth” Season 5 to take viewers into a roller coaster of emotions.

It is likely to make the Kennish-Vasquez family members closer to each other and set aside whatever issues they have to comfort each other, notes Game & Guide.

Some viewers, however, feel that John will not die in the series as showrunner Lizzy Weiss already hinted previously that the Season 5 finale would be a feel-good conclusion for everyone. The death of John would surely douse cold water to a feel-good and happy ending for “Switched at Birth” as promised by its showrunner.

Not in favor of Regina’s lover

There are also current speculations saying that Daphne and Vanessa have decided to come home from China is because their mother, Regina Vasquez, played by Constance Marie, will be introducing to them her hot new boyfriend named Luca, to be played by Michael Galante.

The two will obviously be shocked to learn about the relationship since Luca seems to be closer to their age and is way younger than Regina.

The relationship would not suit well with both Daphne and Bay that it might possibly cause another tension in the Kennish–Vasquez family.

According to reports, the relationship of Regina and Luca shall also be one of the main focuses of “Switched at Birth” Season 5 when it returns to Freeform early next year.

In the trailer for “Switched at Birth” Season 5, Regina is shown kissing her much younger beau. She appears to be telling Luca that their relationship is wrong but she still gives in to him when he told her that he really loves her, details the Ecumenical News.

As much as they want their mother to be happy, an affair with a younger man is not what they have envisioned for her. So it would be interesting how they would deal with Luca.

Happy ending for everyone

The Season 5 trailer of “Switched at Birth” also featured Toby Kennish, played by Lucas Grabeel, and Lily, played by Rachel Shenton, finally deciding to tie the knot and seal their family with a marriage.
