Fallout 4 will not be supporting any PS4 mods shortly. From the looks of it, the game producer Bethesda has found itself in the middle of a backlash for taking that decision. There are many other games which provide mod support for the console.
Pete Hines, the marketing VP, recently elaborated on why it doesn’t work with Bethesda’s policies. Over the course of past few days, Hines has been receiving a lot of flak on his Twitter account. It seems like gamers are pretty annoyed about the cancellation of this particular feature.
Moreover, this happened after Giants Software confirmed that mods would be working across console while playing Farming Simulator 17. Therefore, gamers are demanding some valid explanation from Bethesda. How is it possible that mods can work for some games but not for other games?
iDigitalTimes managed to focus on certain tweets, and it shows that Pete responded to a particularly irate follower regarding the discrepancy involving this feature.
Both features were referred to under the same name, but Pete clearly declared that they are not the same thing. Hines talked about what they contain and permitted to change and add, differs with various titles.
He replied to another fan that the term ‘mod’ covers a lot of different things. According to him, what others are doing is what they will do with Fallout 4. He mentioned that it is the content which determines what can be changed, added and so on.
Just like last week, Hines is continuing with the argument that some mods can work for certain PS4 games due to their difference in scope and practical implementation.
Although it is not explicitly mentioned, it is clearly implied that Bethesda’s vision with Fallout 4 is much greater than that of Farming Simulator’s.
In the announcement blog, it was mentioned that the studio wishes to make mods that allow the players to do whatever they want. Sadly, Sony didn’t comply with Bethesda’s request.
Titles like Farming Simulator 17 and others may work nicely with the hardware maker’s regulations. Bethesda still hasn’t commented on what type of Sony policy prevented Fallout 4 mods to be featured on the Sony PS4.
A list of possible theories exist, which give us an idea on what could have made it happen. The game is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The aspects of modding are only supported across the two other platforms.
Meanwhile, Nuka World DLC has had its discrepancies. According to a reviewer, as a player, if you follow through with the Raider plan, you will receive a new companion; receive new town types, legendary parks and some of the best perks available in the game.
However, if you choose the good guy path, there’s not much you can expect from the DLC. One can appreciate the new choice brought to Fallout 4 with the Nuka World DLC but at a certain point, this is quite pointless and unacceptable.
It serves to be one of the most tightly-packed and entertaining parts of the game. The DLC is awesome but only available to people who prefer playing as Raiders.
As a result, 80% of the player base is already cut off with that. Sadly, in the end, they are not even the main ending faction. You still need to make a choice between other factions.
Therefore, in the end, you are getting the sore end of it, no matter what. The process is quite annoying but what’s even difficult to digest is the fact that all of it could have worked perfectly.
