‘Jurassic World 2’ to Have Nearly Twice as Much as the Production Budget of ‘Jurassic World,’ Confirms Director!

“Jurassic World 2” will not have Colin Trevorrow as director despite steering “Jurassic World” to become the fourth highest grossing movie of all time when it came out in June of last year.

The sequel to “Jurassic World” shall be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona. He is described as a genius in his own right. He previously helmed “The Impossible” and the upcoming movie “A Monster Calls” so he is confident that he can measure up to the success of Colin Trevorrow for directing the first movie that banked $1.67 billion dollars in the box-office last year.

In an interview with a Spanish magazine, J.A. Bayona, said that the franchise is in the Champion’s League of cinema and claimed that he accepted the offer to direct “Jurassic World 2” because of the involvement of critically-acclaimed producer and director Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall, reports Scified.

He also disclosed that the budget for “Jurassic World 2” would be $260 million, which is nearly twice as much as the $150 million budget of “Jurassic World.” But he did not explain or point out a specific reason why the producers have decided to almost double the budget of the sequel.

What seems clear at this point is that “Jurassic World 2” would be bigger in scale because of its bigger budget when the movie hits global cinemas on June 22, 2018.

Second movie of a trilogy

“Jurassic World 2” is set to start filming in Hawaii early next year. It has already been confirmed that main stars Chris Pratt, who plays Owen Grady, and Bryce Dallas Howard, who plays park manager Claire Dearing, would be returning to reprise their roles in the sequel.

It has also been confirmed that the sequel is going to be the second movie in a trilogy.

There are also rumors going around that some of the stars of the first dinosaur film trilogy, “Jurassic Park” would be making an appearance in the sequel. It could be recalled that “Jurassic World” is themed after the quote by Dr. Alan Grant, played by Sam Neill, in “Jurassic Park.”

Neill is also rumored to return in “Jurassic World 2” and so are other stars including Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern. However, all these are mere speculations and shall only be confirmed or denied by the producers of the dinosaur franchise.

Other than the possible addition of characters from the previous franchise, it has also been reported that Claire Dearing is going to transform all throughout the film trilogy, details News Everyday.

A whole new breed of dinosaurs

First were the reports that “Jurassic World 2” shall feature militarized dinosaurs, banking on the premise that Owen Grady managed to train the velociraptors. Subsequently, the rumors started flying that the sequel to the 2015 hit dinosaur movie shall feature a whole new breed of dinosaurs to bring more terror just like the Indominus rex did in the first movie.

The speculations appeared plausible considering that they were based on what transpired during “Jurassic World.”

It can be recalled that Dr. Henry Wu, played by B.D. Wong, was able to escape Isla Nublar, bringing along with him several dinosaur embryos, one of which was used to create the genetically-engineered Indominus rex in “Jurassic World.”

Dr. Wu previously worked with Vic Hoskin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, to create a new breed of dinosaurs for possible used by the military. This particular plotline is being rumored to become a springboard for a storyline of “Jurassic World 2.”

According to the same set of rumors, Dr. Wu and Hoskin were actually planning to create armored dinosaurs that will protect people and fight crimes in the upcoming sequel.
