‘Clash of Clans’ September Update Meant to Increase Player Interest in the Game Amid Strong Challenge from Pokemon Go

From previously being the most popular freemium mobile strategy game on mobile devices in the world, “Clash of Clans” has lost its grip to the title with the arrival of the mobile augmented reality game “Pokemon Go.”

Amid the rampage of “Pokemon Go,” Finnish game developer Supercell launched a massive ban among players who have been using bots to cheat on “Clash of Clans.” As a result, a number of “CoC” players have started migrating to “Pokemon Go” or other mobile games, especially those innocent ones who were also banned.

But the decision of Supercell was meant more to cleanse the game of bots and it successfully did. Apparently, the massive ban was a prelude to a major expansion coming to the game this month.

It is part of the strategy of the Finnish game developer in order to keep or increase the player’s interest in the game and possibly bring back those who migrated to “Pokemon Go” or other mobile games.

The hype that the game developer is putting on the September updates has made it one of the most highly-anticipated updates to “Clash of Clans” this year and the millions of fans and players of the game are now waiting for it.

Arranged Wars on ‘CoC’

Based on reports, the September update for “CoC” will be a major one because it would bring a lot of changes in the game, reports the iTech Post.

It was actually Supercell who disclosed what the update shall contain when it recently announced on its official forum page that Arranged Wars or Clan Challenge is indeed in the works. The speculations are saying that such feature is part of the September update while there are also rumors saying that it could be part of a future update to the game.

The Clan Challenge will reportedly usher a new way of doing clan wars. In the reported new feature, clans may issue a challenge to any clan it wants to go up against with. The clan issuing the challenge will set the details of the event, which include the preparation days as well as the duration of the battle, details Game & Guide

There are also reports saying that “Clash of Clans” players could be rewarded with free gem mining in the September updates, which they could use to finance the putting up of clan structures they would need in the clan wars.

The game developer shall also be changing some of the present rules in “Clash of Clans” particularly with regards to loot and penalty. But there has been no further detail released by Supercell.

Also in the rumor mill is the possible change in the Town Hall rules, which would surely delight a lot of players of the game since it is one facet of the previous updates that had drawn the most flak from gamers.

Catching the mobile gaming world by storm

There used to be a time when the freemium mobile strategy game “Clash of Clans” was the foremost video game among mobile device users anywhere in the world.

However, over time, because of some less than satisfactory updates and some really terrible ones, “Clash of Clans” has started losing avid gamers.

It also did not help that Niantic launched “Pokemon Go,” which practically caught the mobile gaming world by storm and is now arguably the most played video game on mobile devices in the world.

Supercell has previously said that after its May updates were met with negative feedbacks from gamers, it has said that it will just work on updates that are recommended by gamers. The game developer has learned its lesson that they need not be strict on their games because gamers would surely turn away from the game.
