All the excitement about “Thor: Ragnarok” seems to be affecting the cast members just as much as fans themselves, and we’ve been hearing various interesting reports from the film’s set. It looks like everyone is hard at work preparing their role, and Jeff Goldblum in particular has been in the news quite often lately, with reports that the actor has been learning a lot during his work on the film.
And it seems like Jeff Goldblum in particular has found a great way to combine his work with something more pleasant, as the actor has been going through old “Thor” comics and examining the old style of the superhero. Even though the new adaptation of Thor is supposed to be a more modern one, and the character will surely have evolved to some extent since his comic book version, it will still be interesting to see what aspects of the original make it into the new film.
We’ve seen some quite good versions of Thor since the first comic books, and Goldblum actually has a lot to compete against. His presence in the story as the Grandmaster will actually be an important one, even though he’s not the main hero.
It’s very likely that old-school fans of the character in particular are going to judge him very harshly, so the actor shouldn’t take his role lightly by any means.
Meanwhile, we’ve been getting additional reports about the film’s cast, such as the confirmation that Lou Ferrigno is coming back as the voice actor for The Hulk. Some critics have pointed out that Ferrigno’s role actually got overshadowed by the other characters in the film, particularly that of Thor himself, but it’s still good to see that some fans are recognizing his return.
There are some interesting rumors about the role of Hulk in particular, indicating that the character’s voice could play a more important role compared to his other representations. We don’t know what that means exactly, but it does seem to imply that Ferrigno could find himself in a more central spot this time.
Some of the less exciting rumors about the upcoming film claim that it could be the end of this chapter in Marvel’s universe, as the studio is apparently not looking to expand the Thor series any further. This has been implied by the very name of the film, according to some fans who are more familiar with Norse mythology, as apparently “Ragnarok” signifies the end of times.
It’s possible that the name could have a more symbolic meaning, but that’s starting to seem less and less likely in light of other rumors surrounding the studio. This isn’t the first time we’re hearing that Marvel are going to finish off their “Thor” series, so things might definitely be moving in that direction.
This doesn’t have to be a bad thing though. If this really is the end of the line for Thor, we expect that the writers are going to send him off in a deserving way, and this film could turn out to be a lot more special than anything else we’ve seen about the character before.
It could also open some doors to potential spin-offs and other similar media. Just because “Thor” itself is ending as a series doesn’t mean that the studio can’t utilize the character in other ways, and Marvel have actually been quite active in this regard lately, so anything is possible.
