Euron Greyjoy, played by Pilou Asbaek, showed up in Season 6 of the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” to lay claim to the kingdom of the Iron Islands, previously being held by his older brother, Balon, played by actor Patrick Malahide.
He killed his brother before challenging Yara, played by Gemma Whelan, and Theon, played by Alfie Allen, for the leadership of the Iron Isles by volunteering to drown himself in the water.
Just before he recovered from his drowning, to claim his rightful place in the Iron Isles, he said that he plan to build plenty of ships and bring them to Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, and that he is also planning to marry the Mother of Dragons so that he can finally lay claim to the Iron Throne in King’s Landing and become ruler of the whole of Westeros.
But Yara and Theon beat Euron to the punch as they escaped Iron Isles by taking most of their men and all of the ships to Daenerys.
Towards the Season 6 finale, it was shown that Yara and Theon were already with Daenerys as they sail to King’s Landing and boot out Cersei Lannister, played by Lena Heady, from the Iron Throne after she took over from her son Tommen.
A looming showdown on the side
Apparently, there will be a showdown among the Greyjoys in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” between Yara and Theon on one side and Euron on the other, notes Watchers on the Wall.
It will be a sidelight to the battle between Cersei and Daenerys for the right to rule the seven kingdoms of Westeros.
The rumors actually emanated from recent spoilers showing Yara and Theon engaging in a battle at sea with their uncle Euron.
Based on behind-the-set leaks, Euron shall reportedly be able to catch one of the two siblings and used him or her as bait against the other.
The spoilers are also saying that since Yara and Theon have already joined forces with Daenerys, Euron will be teaming up with Queen Cersei in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones,” details the Metro of UK.
The reports seem consistent with previous rumors in saying that Euron Greyjoy will be a major character in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones.”
Fans of the popular hit show are starting to get worried that the captive may be Theon again and he would be subjected to brutality far worse than he got from Ramsay Bolton, played by Iwan Rheon.
An Oscar-winning actor for the TV series
It looks like “Game of Thrones” is intent on living up to the recent statements of Maisie Williams that its upcoming Season 7 would be a great run for the show.
Latest reports have it that the production of “Game of Thrones” Season 7 has just taken in Oscar-winning actor Jim Broadbent for a still undisclosed role. Given his stature as a multi-awarded British actor, it is likely that he shall be given an important role in the highly-followed and anticipated TV series.
Fans are just disappointed to know that Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” shall only have seven episodes and that Season 8, which reportedly shall have only six episodes, shall be the final season for the hit TV series.
Jim Broadbent is best remembered for films including “Time Bandits,” “The Iron Lady,” “Brooklyn,” “Brazil,” “Bridget Jones’ Diary,” his Emmy-nominated title role on the series “Longford,” his recurring role in the “Harry Potter” film franchise where he played Horace Slughorn, to his Oscar-winning role as best supporting actor in the 2001 film titled “Iris.”
HBO has not revealed the details of the role of Jim Broadbent on “Game of Thrones” Season 7 except saying that it will be significant.
Back in Season 6, the show also cast veteran actor Ian McShane in a brief but pivotal role because it proved to be vital in reintroducing the fan-favorite character, Sandor Clegane, also known as The Hound.
